Requirement for Remote Connectivity:
1. COSEC Application and Database Server Running on Public IP
2. Door Controllers
3. ADSL Router with Static IP on WAN Port
4. Port Forwarding in ADSL Router
Case Study: Consider the scenario in which a company ABC has a
Head Office at Mumbai and two Branches at Pune and Delhi. They
want that the software (Application Server) should be installed at the
Head Office and Doors should be installed at their two Branches
(Pune and Delhi) as they want to monitor the activities from the Head
Office (Mumbai).
1. Application Diagram
As shown above the database server is at Head Office (Mumbai) and
one Door is at branch 1 (Pune) with a private IP and one Door at
branch 2 (Delhi) with a private IP.
Now the configuration details are as shown below for Server and both
the Doors.
IP Address Details For Server at Mumbai
COSEC Application and Database Server PC

: 203.88.142.219 (Static IP)
Subnet
: 255.255.255.248
Gateway : 203.88.142.217
DNS

Remote end Router and Door IP Address of Branch-1 (Pune)
WAN IP
: 59.182.131.212 (Router)
Subnet
: 255.255.255.0
Gateway
: 59.182.191.254
Door IP
: 192.168.1.2 (Private IP)
Subnet
: 255.255.255.0
Gateway
: 192.168.1.1 (LAN IP of Router)
Remote End Router and Door IP Address of Branch-2 (Delhi)
WAN IP : 159.176.131.132 (Router)
Subnet
: 255.255.255.0
Gateway : 159.176.192.254
Door IP
: 192.168.1.2 (Private IP)
Subnet
: 255.255.255.0
Gateway : 192.168.1.1 (LAN IP of Router)
Programming Steps for this Scenario:
1. IP address Assignment of COSEC web and Database server
(Mumbai)
2. Door Configuration of Branch-1 (Pune)
3. Door Configuration of Branch-2 (Delhi)
4. Router Port Forward Configuration (Both Pune & Delhi)
So we will see all the steps one by one and please note that the
Default Door Listening Port is 50000.
1. IP address Assignment of COSEC web and Database server
For configuring the IP of the Server PC, Right click on My
Network PlacesÆProperties then right click on Local Area
ConnectionsÆProperties.
Then navigate to the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and configure the IP
address.
2. Door’s Configuration of Branch -1 (Pune)
First of all open the Internet Explorer and type http://localhost/cosec.
After entering Username and Password the following page opens. As
shown below go to Access Control Module.
Click on Doors tab and add Direct Door.
Enter the IP address details as we have mentioned earlier and then
click on save.
3. Doors Configuration of Branch -2 (Delhi)
For configuring Door at Branch 2 (Delhi), add another Direct Door
and enter the IP details as mentioned earlier.
Note: In the configuration of the Door’s IP address in the software we
have entered WAN IP of the Router at their respective locations.
How to Find WAN IP address of the Router?
Sit on the Local PC on Remote site and open the Router
Configuration Page. As shown below you can find the LAN and
WAN port IP of the Router.
4. Router Port Forward Configuration for Both the Branches
(Pune & Delhi)
Now when a server sends a request to the Door it will send on port
50000 and IP of the Door (as configured in the software). In our case
we have entered the Router’s IP in the Door’s configuration so at the
Router we have to do port forwarding.
For that we have to forward all the request coming to port number
50000 should be transferred to the internal local IP and that IP must be
configured in the Door. So every request will be transferred to the
Door.
Port Forwarding is as shown in the above screenshot. Port Forwarding
must be done to the both routers for this scenario.
After completing all the above steps, open the COSEC Monitor
Application from the Server PC at the Head Office (Mumbai) as shown
below.
After entering Username and Password the following page appears.
As shown above both the doors are showing connected.
