Supply List: Revised March 2014
Acrylic Paints – in tubes or jars. This is an acrylic paint supply guide only. You do not have to buy all
these colours! However you should have the colours in the first section of the list. If you want to start
creating a professional artist palette and for ease of colour mixing, you should have a warm and cool
colour for all your primary colours. All tubes except WHITE should be regular size tubes. Following the list
below will give you a total of 9 tubes of colour to start. You may purchase either student or artists grade.
Hues may be substituted for more expensive pigments. At this time do not purchase OPEN acrylics (a
slow drying type of acrylics).

watercolour paper about 9” X 12”. I will suggest some other things that you can try later.

1 Small house painting brush to apply gesso (about 1 ½ inches)
1 bottle of acrylic gloss medium
1 medium sized jar of white acrylic gesso
palette –
I use white styrofoam plates which I place in a covered plastic container to keep paints moist. When
choosing a surface to mix your paints, always use plastic, Plexiglas or glass palettes. Paper palettes tend
to make colors dry faster.
masking tape
2 plastic containers for water (yogurt or sour cream containers)
water spray bottle – small sized if you can find one
pencil for drawing
gum eraser
pen and note book
paper towels
ruler
scissors
During the first class I will talk about and show you other surfaces, tools, mediums etc. that you might wish
to try out. Some of them are as simple and easily acquired as a toothbrush or a natural sponge. Others
may be purchased if you wish or as you may require later. If in doubt for the first class, purchase only the
minimum...after the first class you can get the rest.
