Our deepest thanks to the Hafez family for hosting the
event! We look forward to seeing you again this year!
Melanie Friese spoke to participants at the Jayme’s Fund Golf Classic
“My involvement with Jayme’s Fund began 4 years ago when I was a
freshman at Southern New Hampshire University. I wanted to do some
volunteer work and gain experience writing. SNHU put me in touch
with Caren who was able to provide me with writing opportunities. I
continue to volunteer here because I have been touched and inspired
by Jayme’s Fund, and I strongly believe that the impacts on the
community make a difference.
Personally, I connected with Jayme’s story and the mission of Jayme’s
Fund because I have similar interests as Jayme including writing,
human rights, and music. Jayme’s Fund gave me great opportunities
to practice my writing abilities. As a freshman in college, I was given
a rewarding responsibility to edit the Jayme’s Bears Book, work on
creative writing projects, and be in charge of the winter newsletter.
Currently, I serve on the advisory board and am involved in various
projects. Jayme’s Fund, not only inspires people to get involved in their
communities, Jayme’s Fund specifically gives students meaningful
opportunities. Caren believes that young people can make a positive
impact on their communities as her daughter did and continues to do
through Jayme’s Fund. I am an example of that, and am glad that I’ve
had the chance to be a part of this cause!”
KUDOS FROM A JAYME’S FUND BOARD MEMBER
Working with the SNHU
students and other young
adult volunteers is so
inspiring! It’s amazing to
witness people so early in
life experiencing the gifts
of generosity, the feeling
of community, their own
creativity and their growth
as young adults. Recently, I
felt this way working side-byside with these volunteers at
the JFGC. Kudos to all of you!

FUNDRAISING REQUEST FROM CECILY!
For the past year and a half
I have had the honor to be
a part of Jayme’s Fund for
Social Justice, as a work-study
student through Southern New
Hampshire University. Since I
have been working for Jayme’s
Fund, I have learned about and
assisted with administrative
tasks, fundraising, social media development, served on the advisory board
and participated in one of my favorite responsibilities, The Jayme’s Bears
Project! As I approach my final semester at Southern New Hampshire
University I would like to give something back and make a significant
impact for Jayme’s Fund.
Our annual January Jaunt snowshoe hike will take place on January 24th,
2016 in Hollis, New Hampshire.
Would you consider supporting the event by sponsoring my participation?
I hiked last year and it was great to be a part of this event.
My sponsorship goal for the January Jaunt is $700.00. All donations
can be made through our website at http://www.jaymesfund.org/jf/
make-donations/. Select the event sponsorship button. After you make
your donation, designate the donation in the drop down box Cecily’s
Sponsorship for January Jaunt.
Jayme’s Fund for Social Justice and I so much appreciate your donation!
Thank you for your generosity.

See you at the MCC!
Holly Sprules, a 2015 Natalie A.
Lipkin Memorial Scholarship awardee
demonstrated throughout high school
that she’s up for a challenge, and
consistently enrolled in advanced level
classes. She is determined “to be a strong,
independent woman, who does not
struggle financially.” She is studying
forensics at Bay Path University in Massachusetts.
Mariana Rodriguez, a 2015 Natalie A.
Lipkin Memorial Scholarship awardee
is a native of Columbia, who uses her
bilingual skills to help others in her school
and community. Her teachers described
Mariana as responsible, determined, and
dedicated. She volunteers with the Special
Olympics Program, and is attending
Monmouth University in New Jersey where she plans to study Marine Biology.
Lamienne Maurice, the 2015 Eckman Award for Excellence recepient is attending
Plymouth State’s Nursing Program and plans to become a nurse practitioner.
Faculty expressed that Lamienne is by far one of the most genuine, kindest and
hard working young women they have ever met. Lamienne expressed gratitude
for the award: “Thank you for your generous scholarship. You have lightened my
financial burden which allows me to focus more on the most important aspect of
school…learning! Your generosity inspires me to help others and give back to the
community. I hope one day I will be able to help students achieve their goals just as
you have helped me.”
JAYME’S BEARS MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
THE JAYME’S BEARS PROJECT
Bears for Hugs.
Scholarships for Success!
Specially handcrafted by volunteers, Jayme’s Bears are given to and
distributed by organizations that help children in need. The Project also
raises money for educational scholarships. The bears are accompanied
by the Jayme’s Bears Book, and carry a heartfelt message from the bear
makers to the children who receive them.
A dear friend who knew Jayme well, once said to me that she was
amazed how many people who never knew Jayme were committed
to the mission of Jayme’s Fund. I guess its not surprising that family
and friends who knew Jayme would want to honor her memory.
So what keeps others involved?
I asked a few who are, and this is what they said:
“I believe in the work that the fund does and how important it is to
reach out to children that need help.”
“JF has a strong connection to their giving community. I feel good
being a part of the circle of friends.”
JF youth advisory board member Christina
Santini delivers bears to Families in Transition.
JF volunteer Elizabeth Worth delivers bears to the
Center for Assessment and Treatment
Thank you to everyone
who makes Jayme’s Bears!
Making the bears involve a significant community effort. So far, over 600
children in need have received a Jayme’s Bear!
“I feel privileged to help make Jayme’s Bears and benefit as much
as the child on the receiving end.”
“Jayme’s Fund changes the lives of children, and to change the life
of even one child changes the world and generations to come!”
“I believe in Jayme’s Fund and want to make a difference in
someone’s life. I also want my daughter to grow up in a home
where she sees and knows the importance of volunteering.”
“It’s personal, it’s community, its local, it’s a direct contribution to
students and children in our community. I know where the money is
going and the kind of work that is being done. I can make an impact.”
And my dear husband Steve – your commitment extends far
beyond your caring about me.
You said that Jayme was a very special young woman who was
destined to make significant contributions in her life, and that you
wanted to carry forward some of what she might have done. You
tell me that you are part of the team that gives back to others in
Jayme’s name, and that keeps you motivated to continue doing so.
Special thanks to Rose Kozdra, Donna Vieux, Paula Hogan, Cecily Francis,
students at the Breakthrough Collaborative Manchester, students at
Southern New Hampshire University, students at Alverine high school and
the many other hands that lovingly create Jayme’s Bears!

Together, we do make a difference in Jayme’s name.
The heart and soul of Jayme’s Fund will always be Jayme.
Here’s a sketch that I came across just last week that Jayme drew
in middle school.
I’d never seen it, and it was just
as I was thinking about the
annual snowshoe hike.
Thanks Jayme.
For those who knew her and
those who know her in spirit…
I am so grateful that you are a
part of the Jayme’s Fund team.
Thank you for your support.
Thank you for remembering
Jayme.
