From delicately hand-crafted chocolates, brownies, confectionary and cakes this tour will raise your blood sugar levels and your endorphins too. Just don’t eat them all at once, make sure you get some to go so you can savour this tour for a long time to come. Teddies ‘n Sweets, Redcliffe You’ll find the best of British lollies at Teddies ‘n Sweets in the Cominos Arcade along Redcliffe Parade. It’s English Tea Rooms and Sweet Shop sells traditional British Sweets and Groceries stocking a range of UK chocolate bars, polos, double deckers, yorkies, blackpool rock, dolly mixtures and liquorice allsorts. Try the high tea with a three-tiered selection of foods which includes warm scones with strawberries and cream and a hot pot of English breakfast tea. Open weekends 9am-4pm Saturday and 9am - 3pm Sunday. 2 Lollyworld, Lawnton (20.3km) Lollyworld at 6 Ebert Road Parade Lawnton stocks sugary delights from all over the world. From the US, they stock Reeses Peanut Butter Cups, Pop Tarts and Dr Pepper. From the UK its Dusted Jelly Babies and Dolly Mix and from Holland you can enjoy salted Dutch Licorice. Open on Saturdays 9am-5pm. Tom’s Confectionary Warehouse (20.7km) Continue on to 358 Nudgee Road, Hendra. Here you will find Tom’s Confectionary Warehouse, Australia’s largest confectionary shop with over 16,000 lines of products to choose from. Open daily. Dandelion & Driftwood, Hendra (6.6km) It’s probably time to balance all this sweet shopping with a tea or coffee so pop into Dandelion & Driftwood at 45 Gerler Road in Hendra. If you’re peckish they have a beautiful selection of cakes and pastries to try. Open daily. Dello Mano, Teneriffe (7.2km) As you enter the big red doors of Dello Mano at 29 Doggett Street, Teneriffe you are entering chocolate brownie heaven. The small family run business is the brain child of Deborah Peralta, a former food scientist and marketer who previously worked with companies like Cadbury and Arnotts. Other products on offer include cookies, 3 fudge and truffles but it is their world famous brownies that everyone goes for including Ashton Kutcher! Open daily. Emporium (650m) Inspired by the cupcake phenomenon that swept through New York, Poppy Cakes offers a variety of cupcakes including lowgluten options, whole cakes and cookies as well as great coffee. Open daily. While here, stop by Freestyle Tout. Known for amazing desserts such as Spanish Churros and dipping chocolate, Freestyle Affogato and chocolate deluxe Sundaes, Freestyle will leave your tastebuds very satisfied. Open daily. Chouquette, New Farm (1.8km) Chouquette is a French boulangerie patisserie and a tantalising taste of France at 19 Barker St, New Farm. It is also a feast for the senses, as you walk in to the shop the sights and aromas will entice you. Chouqettes, éclairs and macarons are just some of the mouth-watering products on offer. Open Saturday until 5pm and Sunday until 12:30pm. Chocolate to Die For, Brisbane City (2.3km) It is at 214 Adelaide Street in the city you will find ‘Chocolate to Die For’ a chocolate shop exclusively to cater for lovers of fine chocolate. With over 20 styles and sizes of gift boxes for your personal selection and popular assortments already boxed, make sure you take the opportunity to stock up here. 4 The Barracks, Petrie Terrace (1.9km) Another chocolate shop option for lovers of fine chocolate is boutique shop Bittersweet at The Barracks. Their signature chocolate is a prune delicacy, soaked in bourbon for six months and stuffed with a white chocolate, tangerine and Drambuie ganache and dipped in dark callebaut couveture. French Twist Patisserie nearby also has a fine array of sweets to entice you. Southbank (2.2km) Chocolate decadence pretty much sums up a trip to Max Brenner at Southbank. A great spot for a chocolate overdose but be prepared to wait though, there is usually a queue. While here, The Great Aussie Sweet Co across the way has been adding a sweet touch to the parklands for more than 18 years and will have you feeling like a kid again. Monty’s Chocolate, Paddington (4.3km) And if you need just one more chocolate fix, head to Monty’s Chocolate at 155 Latrobe Terrace in Paddington.
