EWU has the edge on today’s hot-market disciplines: It’s the first and only of Washington’s public comprehensive universities to offer an electrical engineering degree and the only accredited public institution in the region that offers a bachelor’s degree in 3-D animation and gaming. Other Cool Facts Unique among the state’s regional universities, EWU offers a Greek system with seven fraternities and eight sororities. Fun Facts Eastern was home to the Associated Press’ Western Region Election Center for the Nov. 4 general election, collecting returns from 20 states – the only university in the nation to serve as an AP election tabulation center. EWU Dining Services sold 14,679 monster cookies in the past year. Eastern’s $26.3 million recreation center opened in spring 2008. Eastern’s brand new $26.3 million Recreation Center features everything from rock climbing to ice skating with some of the best food on campus. And its environmentally friendly design earned a LEED gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
