HAPPY FATHERS' DAY!!! We extend our blessings and good wishes to all fathers today as they celebrate their special day. Consider hosting a gathering of “neighbors” in your home Our pastor Fr. Niccolls would like to get to know the friends and neighbors of our parish. Since his arrival here two years ago, father has visited the homes of many of our parishioners. The gatherings help to give father the opportunity to meet, greet, and share the news of what’s happening here at the parish. The host or hostess usually invites a few “neighbors” for a gathering which typically lasts about an hour. The “neighbors” might be a group of folks on your street or simply a group of friends, acquaintances, co -workers or parishioners. (We are happy to help you with ideas, addresses, or invitations). Simple refreshments might be served. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual. We hear so much today about two basic and fundamental rights that we hold dear as American Catholic Christians – the rights to life and religious freedom. In reviewing some material I have used in previous years for parish bulletins, I came across a message from one of the cards I received at the time of my 35th anniversary celebration of priesthood. I share this message with you as one to reflect upon and ponder as we think about life and religious freedom. Here is the message. “JUST THINK, you’re here not by chance, but by God’s CHOOSING. His hand FORMED YOU and made you the person you are. He compares you to no one else—you are ONE OF A KIND. YOU LACK NOTHING that His grace can’t give you. He has allowed you to be here AT THIS TIME IN HISTORY To fulfill His special PURPOSE FOR THIS GENERATION. MAY YOUR DAY BE BLESSED with the knowledge of the special purpose God has for your life. And may you be aware of the blessing you are to so many.” Roy Lessin Please contact Fr. Niccolls at the Parish Office or after Mass if you are interested in setting up a date and time for a visit. For more information or assistance in planning please contact Annie Doyle Ex.11. Holy Father’s Prayer Intentions for June During the month of June, Pope Francis has asked that the aged, marginalized, and those who have no one may find-even within the huge cities of the world-opportunity. The Holy Father has also asked that seminarians and men and women entering the religious life may have mentors who live the joy of the Gospel and prepare them wisely for their mission. Fr. Sign Up for Online Giving Follow these three easy step… “This is my commandment: love one another as I love you.” (Jn 15:12) June 17, 2016 My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, In this Jubilee Year of Mercy, the Peter’s Pence Collection is an opportunity to become a witness of charity to those who suffer most. Pope Francis has encouraged us to “open our eyes and see the misery of the world, the wounds of our brothers and sisters who are denied their dignity, and let us recognize that we are compelled to heed their cry for help!” (Misericordiae Vultus, [MV] no. 15). Through the Peter’s Pence Collection, we stand in solidarity with Catholics all over the world to support the charitable works of our Holy Father. Contributions to this collection support Pope Francis as he reaches out to those suffering the effects of war and violence, natural disasters, and religious persecution. Pope Francis has told us that “mercy is the force that reawakens us to new life and instills in us the courage to look to the future with hope” (MV, no. 10). You can learn more about how the Church is a force of mercy that reaches out to those around the world by visiting www.usccb.org/peters-pence. 1. Visit your parish website at www.saintgeo.com 2. Click on the Online Giving link at the top/middle of the homepage. 3. Complete the registration form... It’s that simple!! Many thanks! Your support helps our parish to grow more vibrant every day. I invite you to heed our Holy Father’s call to be a witness of charity throughout the world. Please be generous in the Peter’s Pence Collection to be taken up at all Masses on the weekend of June 26. In addition to your donations, your continued prayers and outreach will help spread the message of the love of Christ to those in need. This Weekend’s Stewardship Thought “Who do you say that I am?” Jesus asks Peter in today’s Gospel. Does my use of the gifts and talent entrusted to me accurately reflect my answer to that same question? How willing am I to deny myself, take up my cross, and follow in His steps? With every prayerful best wish, I remain Sincerely yours in Christ, Most Reverend Robert J. McManus Bishop of Worcester Found A Fitbit Zip was found outside the Rectory. Three essential words! We say PLEASE so as not to be forceful in family life: May I please do this? Would you be happy if I did that for you? We do this with a language that seeks agreement. We say THANK YOU, thank you for love! How many times do you say thank you to your wife, and you to your husband? How often do you say thank you to your children? Children and teens: it is important that you say thank you to your parents, siblings and all those people who guide you in your life. How many days go by without uttering the works: THANK YOU! And the last word: SORRY. We all make mistakes, and on occasion someone gets offended in the marriage, in the family, at our place of work, or in a neighborhood. Sometimes harsh words are spoken or senseless behavior occurs….don’t hold on to a grudge. Live in peaceful harmony each day. It doesn’t hurt to say: please forgive me or I am sorry. In saying these words, we are merciful, a burden is lifted…we become free! (Adapted from Pope Francis’ Address, Pilgrimage of Families, Oct.26, 2013). REFLECTION: The psalmist says, “Set a guard over my mouth, O Lord, keep watch over the door of my lips” (Psalm 141: 3). With our words, we can quickly spread dissent, become frustrated or angry…..or we can make a decision to show mercy and love. Where have you failed with your words? To whom do you need to say: please, thank you and sorry more often? Calling all Teens Summer Faith Sharing Group for Teens will begin Thursday, July 7, 2016 from 7:00 PM - 8:15 PM in the Parish Center. A Prayer for Fathers…Heavenly Father, we thank you for all the love you have shown to us, your children. We thank you for your most precious gift of all – the gift of your Son. Please help all fathers as they teach, guide and nurture their children. Let us never forget those children without fathers and our responsibility to reach out to them. As today’s fathers feel the stress and pressures of balancing work and family, give them the wisdom to see that their most important job is teaching their children to love you and your ways. Amen. Spring Flower Sale Report The Faith in Action Ministry on behalf of families facing a housing crisis and victims of violence extends a grateful thanks to all who by prayer, sponsorship or the purchase of flowers made the Spring Flower Sale a generous expression of our faith and concern for others. As a result we were able to double our donation of last year and contributed one thousand dollars to the Central MA Housing Alliance to assist a family in great need. Likewise to address issues too often leading to homelessness, FIA in collaboration with other parish ministries will be working on organizing programs in the fall focused on confronting violence, protecting life and promoting human dignity at all life stages. If you have an interest in any of these issues we need your help and invite you to take part in the discussion and planning of these programs. If so, please contact a member of the parish Faith in Action Ministry for more information or stop by the FIA Hope for Housing table in the church hall after all Masses. Again, thank you for putting your faith in action. Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration The Adorers of the Perpetual Adoration Chapel wish to thank Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament for these favors: 1.
