Driving Regulations for IHS
1.
Each driver must complete and submit a parking form by the deadline or they will not be considered for a
parking spot. All outstanding fines/fees must be paid to be considered for the parking lottery.
2.
All students must be licensed and covered by insurance. The school is not responsible for your automobile,
its contents, or damage to private vehicles either on or off of school property. The school district is also not
responsible for theft or vandalism that may occur to a vehicle while parked on our lot or in the vicinity of
the school.
3.
The speed limit is 10 mph on all school premises. Entrance, exit, and directional markings are to be
followed at all times. At the end of the day, drivers must allow buses to exit; once buses have exited the
parking lot, drivers may leave. Inappropriate driving will result in discipline or loss of driving privileges.
The parking lot may be subject to radar monitoring.
4.
Students are not to be in any of the parking areas except for coming to and leaving from school.
Automobiles are not to be used for storage during the school day. Students who are found in the parking lot
or loitering in their vehicle during the school day are subject to discipline.
5.
Students are expected to keep the parking areas clear of litter and to use the parking lot garbage cans as
needed. The parking lot is checked daily and an IHS ticket will be issued if litter is present.
6.
Student vehicles may be subject to search if there are reasonable grounds to believe that drugs, alcohol,
stolen property or other contraband might be present in that vehicle. The school retains authority to conduct
routine patrols of student parking lots and inspections of the exteriors and visible interiors of student
vehicles on school property. The interiors of student vehicles may be searched whenever a school official
has reasonable cause or grounds for suspecting or believing that the search will turn up evidence that the
individual student(s) has violated or is violating either the law or the rules of the school. Such patrols and
searches may be conducted without notice, without student consent, and without a search warrant. Police
may be called.
7.
Students on teacher approved school business, such as loading or unloading of materials, must get a dated,
timed permit for temporary parking in an otherwise unauthorized area. The permit must be prominently
displayed.
8.
If someone parks in your assigned stall, please write down the license plate and park in a visitor spot. Bring
the info to the security office.
Parking Regulations for IHS
Parking and driving are considered privileges. All parking and driving regulations are strictly enforced. Violations
may lead to suspension of privileges, loss of privileges, fine/ticket, towing of vehicle and/or school discipline.
1.
Parking on school premises is limited to those who have legally registered automobiles and driver’s
licenses, and who obtain a parking permit through the established process. To be eligible for a carpool,
students must have at least 2 licensed drivers - one who is not on intermediate status.
2.
Parking spaces will be issued to carpool drivers first, senior drivers second, followed by junior drivers.
Only one tag will be issued per parking space. Reproducing parking passes will result in student
discipline and immediate loss of parking privileges. The parking permit must be displayed in the
front windshield in clear view; if it is not clearly visible, the car will be in violation and the car will be
ticketed or towed. Lost or stolen permits may be replaced for a $10.00 fee.
3.
Student parking areas are reserved for students who pay the fee for a parking spot and agree to abide by the
reserved parking area rules. Reservations are assigned for the entire school year. Students must pay the fee
by the designated deadline or they will forfeit the reserved spot. The fee is $140 for the school year.

 Bus loading zone/Fire lanes/or any zone painted yellow

officer. Students are responsible for notifying the school if they change cars during the school year and for
having the vehicle properly registered. Any vehicle that is not properly registered will be ticketed.
6.
Consequences for violations may range from a fine, towing of vehicle, school discipline or loss of parking
privileges.

Tickets must be paid within two weeks or the fine will be doubled. If you wish to dispute a ticket, you
must contact the school security officer within 2 days of the date on the ticket or the ticket will stay in
place.
