you up to date with what is
happening around the school.

Contac!ng the office regarding 2016
We are encouraging all families to contact the office regarding their plans for 2016. We understand
some families may not be returning in 2016 due to work commitments or family reasons. It is
important that we are no'fied about this as it will impact on planning for 2016. Addi'onally if
families have a new child star'ng school in 2016 we would like to get the paperwork organised this
year. This will make the transi'on into school much easier for the child and their parents.
Newsle*er Changes – transi!on to emailed newsle*ers
If you didn’t receive a newsle7er last week, it was because the school is now only sending home
fortnightly paper newsle7ers. The school plans to phase out paper newsle7er by June 2016 with
only emailed newsle7ers available. You can always access the newsle7er from the Qschools app or
via the schools website. If you haven’t sent in your email address to the school please see Tracy in
the office or directly email [email protected] with your name and child’s name and we will add
you to the list.
Term 4 A*endance - 95% or more
A>er reviewing the a7endance informa'on for terms 1-3 it is clear
that Mondays and Fridays are the worst a7ended days at school. This
may be for a number of reasons. Long weekends, 'red children a>er a busy weekend or the
incorrect belief that Fridays are not important days at school. Parents need to view school as a job
for their children. If we as adults were con'nually away on a Friday or Monday we wouldn’t have a
job for very long. Children don’t get fired from school, but they do begin to fall behind their peers
very quickly. Every day is a learning day at school and it is important that children are working with
their teachers every day possible.
Before and A2er School Care Program – Star!ng in January
Camp Australia will be opening a before and a>er school care program at
Gladstone South in 2016. The Program will commence as of the 25th of
January 2016. The program will run from 6:30am to 6pm on all school days throughout the 2016
year. Camp Australia will be coming up to Gladstone in early term 4 to begin to pass on informa'on
to parents.
