SALARY
SURVEY 2016
‘Rising demand in the labour market is driving
increases in salaries and benefits.’
Overview
For 2016 there is an expected increase in demand across the labour market. We
anticipate that this upward trajectory will impact positively on salaries and
benefit packages. The year to date has seen a flurry of job announcements and
we expect this to continue throughout 2016.
The economic recovery has given candidates both the impetus and the courage
to explore the jobs market. They are seeking out roles where they will be
recognised and rewarded for their hard work, and given clear opportunities for
career progression.
We have seen significant increases in demand for key accounts skills and
qualified accounting professionals, followed closely by measured increases in
salary packages and benefits to attract the highest calibre of talent.
Support
Salaries for part-qualified and newly qualified Accounting Technicians have
levelled out but the quality and frequency of roles have increased. The best
Accounting Technicians are gravitating towards companies which will support
them in their studies at this critical and challenging time in their careers. We are
now seeing an augmented tendency for companies to incentivise employees on
completion of their final exams with promises of career progression.
Experienced Accounting Technicians are seeing an increase in benefits
packages, with employers offering bonuses, full health insurance, pensions and
between 22 and 25 days’ annual leave. Employers are conscious of retaining
their talent by investing in their employees beyond their salary.
Exceptional
Retaining and acquiring key staff members is becoming costly and competitive
but this reflects a time of encouraging growth. For those who wish to employ
exceptional people, these are factors which must be given careful
consideration.
