PGOSA memberships for 2016. Available at the Oceanside Place Arena, every Monday, Wednesday and
Friday mornings from 9 to 11 a.m. unless there is a holiday. Just a reminder that there will be no Pgosa table on March
25, and 28 which is Easter weekend.
Presidents Message. Be Active – Be Involved!
Don’t forget the AGM on April 13, 2016, 1:00 pm at the Parksville Curling Arena, our new home. There will
be a Demonstration of CPR and a conversation regarding the Changing of Directors and their Roles in PGOSA.
A new Recognition Ceremony and Awards night has been proposed for May. Also,
soon, in PGOSA Newsletter you will be reading profiles of long standing PGOSA members on-line at
www.pgosa.org.

Volunteer Opportunity: Oceanside Special Olympics is looking for Track and Field coaches and assistance to
help Special Olympians prepare. An 8 week commitment starting middle April is requested. Contact Martin for

Slo-Mo Paddlers Slo-Mo Paddlers was formed in 2013 to promote interest in all forms of human-powered
boating, to foster friendships among participants, and to provide opportunities to maintain an active, healthy
lifestyle. Individual members volunteer to lead excursions. Two members coordinate communications and
another coordinates trip activities. Planned excursions may be one or more days long and may involve cruising,
exploring, camping, fishing, or skill development, depending on the interests of participants.
Slo Pitch: Slo-pitch registration days are March 4 and March 11 for anyone wanting to play slo-pitch.
You can also pay your
membership dues those days if you have not already done so.

March 2016 Monthly Breakfast
The March, Sunday breakfast will be held on March 20th, at 9:30, at Thalasis restaurant in Qualicum
Beach. This is a buffet, and the price will be $11.95, plus tax.
This will be the last buffet for Thalasis, as they are going to their menus, from now on.

Ongoing activities:
Card games and more: to May 2016, only on the second tuesday of every month & only once a month at St
Edmund's Church Wembley Rd. Time 2 -5 PM Cost is $4 with coffee & Goodies brought each week on
a volunteer basis. Our introduction each session to Mahjong (American Version ) is now on
our games day list, being taught by fellow Pgosan Brenda Fergusson. All kinds of card games, such
as: cribbage, Mexican Train, scrabble or any new favourite game you would like to introduce. Contact is

Carpet Bowling: Our newest activity: Civic Centre in Qualicum Beach on Jones Street,
12:45 – 3 PM, Mondays and Wednesdays.. Cost is just $2. Come out for lots of fun and fellowship.

PGOSA Pickleball: Indoor mixed doubles play Tuesday evenings, 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, at Ballenas
Secondary School on Pym Road. "Winter 2016 season runs January 5th to April 26th, 2016. March
15th and 22nd sessions are cancelled due to Spring break." There is a $4.00 Drop-in fee.

Tennis: Year round at the Qualicum Beach Tennis Courts on Veteran’s Way from 9 until noon Tuesday,
Thursday and Saturday. Some experience required. Tennis membership for new members is $10 for first year

Dancing at the Legion in Parksville every Wednesday. Joe will be there and he
is planning on dancing with all singles at least once. If anyone is interested

Tues 8th
Birthday Dinner at French Creek Pub, Parksville, at Lee Road 5:30pm . Please

halibut in town.
Wed 16th
Dan Gray Tour Studio, 2:00pm, Dan Gray, a well known pastel and acrylic
artist, has agreed to give us a tour of his studio in Errington. He can
accommodate a dozen, so please call Jill a.s.a.p. if you wish to attend. I will give

Thur 24th
Thursday March 24th, 2:30pm We will be going to COYOTE"S COFFEE &
TEA #30 1499 Huntley Rd. Parksville, Huntley Rd is on your left just before
Serious Coffee. (turn left off the hwy. at Pioneer fireplace on Huntley Rd. We
will have a vey interesting talk all about the ins and outs of coffee. This is not a
coffee shop as such but a ROASTERY. You can purchase coffee and tea there and
there is a small gift shop. Cash or debit only (no charge cards) Call Jackie at

Dinner and Movie, Dinner at Whitespot Restaurant in Woodgrove Mall at 4:30

attending. Sheila has a list of movies showing from the papers and you can
decide what movie you would like to see. Also look up “Movies, Nanaimo “on the
internet and you will find movies playing at the Galaxy and the Avalon.
