Assignment
Science and technology are changing every day. As a part of
this community. It is very important for everyone to know and
understand the events that are happening across the globe.
Thus, you are required to do a current event creative brief for
our class. Beginning on the date specified by your teacher,
students will present their current event until all students have
presented. The current event topics will fall under the science
and technology topic (more information on possible topics is
listed below). You must read an article from a
reliable/reputable magazine, newspaper, or online news
source. You must analyze the article. The article should be
about a page in length.
There are three components for this assignment: written, visual and oral pieces.
Criteria for Written Component (Preferably typed, but I will accept neatly written responses)
1. Topic
a. What is the topic of your article?
2. Article title
a. What is the title of the article? Exact wording
3. Article Source
a. Where did you get the article?
4. Vocabulary
a. Choose 3-5 NEW vocabulary/content related words
b. Write the word, definition, and use each word in a sentence in a way that shows your
understanding of the word and in the field of science and technology.
5. Summary
a. Briefly, and in your own words, summarize the contents of your article.
b. Make sure it answers Who What, When, Where, How, and Why
c. 7 sentence minimum (high quality sentences)
6. Reaction
a. Take a position on the issue contained in the article
b. How do you feel about the event? How does this event effect you?
c. 7 sentence minimum (high quality sentences)
d. You may use sentence starters like these:

7. World Impact
a. How does this event impact the world?

Visual/Creativity Criteria
Choose a product/method that shows a visual representation of your article. You will also be required to share
your work with a larger world wide audience. How you share it in that way is completely up to you but should
be communicated with your teacher before the assignment due date.
Visual presentations will be done in class and should not be any longer that 5-7 minutes. The visual
presentation can be the item or media that you share publicly. PLEASE NOTE THAT WHEN YOU SHARE THE
CONTENT PUBLICLY, YOUR NAME DOES NOT HAVE TO BE ON THE CONTENT. If you choose to publish your
content from your own personal accounts, please make sure that they are sharable for others to see and view.

ARE JUST SHARING IT WITH THEIR TEACHER,
THEY WANT IT TO BE GOOD ENOUGH.

Oral Presentation Criteria:
When you present to the class, you must do the following:
1. Share your current event through your visual/creative product. This can also be the same product that
you choose to share publicly.
2. The main questions must be answered: Who, What, When, Where, Why, How
3. Your personal reaction must be included.
