Driving Question
How can I as a film producer, ensure that my
film has a realistic setting and looks as close to
real life as possible?
Essential Learning Levels
The students will be able to•
Locate and identify various landforms in India.
Research and collect information about landforms on
the basis of given criteria using multiple tools.
•
Describe each landform on the basis of its climate,
soil, vegetation and other physical features.
•
Compare any two landforms on the basis of the given
criteria .
•
Recognize that landforms affect the lifestyle, culture,
customs and traditions of people living in the region.

Entry Event
Watching a movie - The Lost City of
Pompeii
Students listed the various settings
that they saw in the film.
Divided into five groups, each group
in the class selected one of the
following landforms to research.

The Northern Mountains- location, climate, mountain ranges, importance
of the Himalayas, life in the Northern Mountains

The Northern Plains- location, climate, rivers, vegetation, the three
basins, life in the Northern plains

The Great Indian Desert- location, climate, vegetation, sand dunes, oasis,
the ship of the desert, clothes, language and festivals

The Southern Plateau- location, climate, vegetation, rivers, life in the
Southern plateau

The Coastal Plains and The Islands- location, the Eastern Coastal Plains,
the Western Coastal Plains, the Islands, life in the Western Coastal Plains,
life in the Eastern Coastal Plains
Students read books and used this computer
and project classes to research and gather
information on the chosen landform.
Making a Brochure
The collated
information is
presented in the
form of a
brochure.
Journal Writing
Students record their learnings in their
individual ‘Landform Journals’ everyday.
Class Presentations
Groups use different
tools and techniques
to make presentations
on their landforms.
Our Resource Person
Sriparna Ma’am, our Senior
School Geography teacher,
interacted with the
students. She spoke about
the different kinds of
mountains and also the
types of soil associated
with different landforms.
Compare and Contrast
Each group researches
another landform and
records the information in a
graphic organizer.
Thereafter, the students
compare the two landforms
on specified criteria.
Creative Writing
Students complete a ‘Narrative Writing’
paragraph on ‘The Landform I like the most’,
giving reasons for their choice.
Films and Cinema…..
Wearing a Director’s Cap
Working on a film script, students as directors chose an
ideal landform for its shooting, determined ideal months for
the same and listed other various pre-production
requirements.
Proud Moments - Culmination Event
Parents were invited for the culmination event of the project. The
students spoke about their learning process and made presentations.
They also shared their journals with their parents.
