Devialet 120 fits Dynaudio Excite X34 so well
I visited Dynaudio company three times in September, 2013. It was an
amazing experience when I listened to the music from the new created
X34 floor-standing speaker. I couldn’t believe that how could the
small speaker cover such a broad frequency range? It sounded so clear
and dynamic, sweet and without feedback in high frequency band, rich
and loose in the medium frequency band and the low frequency
supporting the middle-frequency band and high-frequency band well.
The price of this speaker was only slightly over ten thousand of
Taiwan Dollars, indeed a low price but a high quality!
The pair of speakers finally came to my listening room in December,
this year. It works with SAM-integrated Devialet 120. The 120 refers
to its maximum output 2x120W. The integrated SAM allows it to be
DSP revised specifically on X34 property, improving the accuracy in
low frequency band and bettering its control. As a result, its
performance in medium and high frequency bands has also been
greatly improved. As X34 is small in size, does it work well in my
open and spacious house? After I put in a CD of Bluecoast Collection,
the broad sound blending the bouncy guitar and charming human
voice, filled up the whole space. I couldn’t imagine that it came from
the small floor-standing
speaker.
It even brought me more
surprise when I listened to
the Eroica Trio. What I
heard was not only the pure
and beautiful tone but also
the piano, which sounded
as natural as that from a big
speaker. Though X34 has only two single mid-woofer speakers, the
piano from the X34 sounds so loose and real. Its price is only slightly
over ten thousand of Taiwan Dollars. It can perfectly present the sweet
sound of a violin and humming sound of a cello. Is it a miracle of
incident?
When I played Jiang Hui’s CD, the rich, clear and mild voice of Jiang
Hui from the X34 was just like that from my big speaker. So did the
sound of the bass drum. It sounded clear and pure, an excellent
performance in low frequency sound. With the integrated SAM, the
X34 really has a better performance. I believe that the boss of
Dynaudio may also feel surprised when hears it!
It is unbelievable that Devialet has made such an improvement. They
have made a revolution, totally different from the traditional product
genre. I have listened to music from their 800 and 170, quite good!
Now, with such a low output power, the 120 also does well. For a
music lover, a 120 at a price of€ 5000 is really worthy!
My Dynaudio X34 looks so small, but the broad and shocking sound
effect from it really surprises me.
