KinderGarten Budějovická, Krčská 316/39, 140 00 Praha 4 SUMMER PROGRAMME 2017 AROUND THE WORLD EUROPE 3. 7. – 7. 7. 2017 Europe is one of the world´s seven continents, it is the world´s second-smallest continent and the birthplace of Western culture. Europe is famous for various countries, many sights, beautiful buildings and its cuisine. What will we learn? The first week we will focus on Italy, France, The Great Britain, Germany, Spain and Scotland. We will talk about languages in these countries, flags, but we will mainly focus on products. What will we do, see, visit? Children will learn that for spaghetti, pizza come from Italy etc. France has prestigious bakery (croissants etc.) We will talk about traditional English tea. Older Children will match products to its country. Little ones will play with pasta (making necklaces). We will discover smells of the spices, typical food for each country. This week we will go to farmer markets. Programme: Making the flags of Europe EUROPE 10. 7. – 14. 7. 2017 The second week we will learn the famous monuments across the Europe. Where we can find the Eifel tower, the Big Ben, the Coliseum and the Charles bridge. What will we learn? We will learn why so many tourists around the world come to Europe. What brings people here? Where can we find the Eifel tower, the Big Ben, the Coliseum. We will try to work with map, learning cardinal points. How can we travel around Europe? Older kids will talk about travelling in the past. Younger kids will mainly talk about travelling across Europe. What will we do, see, visit? We will talk old means of transport (trams, plains etc.) Older kids will talk about travelling in the past. Younger kids will mainly talk about travelling across Europe and plenty more…… Trip: The Kingdom of Railways – Wednesday 12 July 2017, departure time 9:00 am ASIA 17. 7. – 21. 7. 2017 The continent of Asia is the world's largest and most populous continent with over 4 billion people calling Asia home. Asia also contains the world's most populous country, China, and the world's largest country, Russia. Asia borders Africa and Europe to the west and the Pacific Ocean to the east. Asia is rich in diverse races, cultures, and languages. Many of the world's major religions came out of Asia including Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism. There are many well-known countries here in Asia such as Russia, India, China, Japan, Pakistan and many others. What will we learn? We will talk about countries of Asia, their sights and traditions as well as their national and traditional food, typical animals etc. We will see a lots of pictures and feel the atmosphere of the Orient. What will we do, see, visit? Children will discover legends and stories of Asian history and they can also try to write Chinese or to hold chopsticks, to feel the atmosphere, to talk to Chinese people . Programme: Creative Chinese painting in the garden – Wednesday 19 July at 10:00 am AFRICA 24. 7. – 28. 7. 2017 Africa is the world's second-largest and second-most-populous continent (47 countries on the continent). The continent is surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea, both the Suez Canal and the Red Sea along the Sinai Peninsula, the Indian Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean. The largest desert on Earth is the Sahara, the longest river is the Nile, the most visited countries are Egypt, Morocco, Kenya and South Africa. What will we learn? We are going to learn about history of Africa and famous Egyptian Pyramids (more than 100), about Pharaohs, Mummies, and Sfinga – the Guard of the Pyramids. Sfinga has the body of a lion, and the head of a pharaoh. What will we do, see, visit? Artsd and crafts projects: making Mumies and Great Pyramids, try to build a pyramid in the sandpit. Trip: the ZOO – Wednesday 26 July 2017, departure time 9:00 am NORTH AMERICA and CANADA 31. 7. – 4. 8. 2017 North America is the third largest of the seven continents. It is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west. North America is dominated by its three largest countries: Canada, Mexico, and the United States. What will we learn? We will talk about the three largest countries, Canada, Mexico and the United States. We will learn where they are located on the map. We will also learn the different languages spoken in each country. We will talk about the major cities/capitals in North America (New York City, Vancouver, Mexico City, Los Angeles, Washington D. C. and Ottawa). We will also learn about different types of food they eat in North America and we take a look at their cultural differences. What will we do, see and visit? We will celebrate „Canada Day celebration“, making piñata. Programme: Drumming garden party – Wednesday 3 August 2017 at 10:00 am SOUTH AMERICA 7. 8. – 11. 8. 2017 South America is the fourth largest continent in size and the fifth largest in population. It is located primarily in the southern hemisphere. It is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west. The geography of South America is dominated by the Andes Mountain Range and the Amazon River (second longest river in the world). What will we learn? While exploring the different languages, foods and cultures of the many countries in South America we will also explore some of its dominant geographical features like the Amazon River and the rain forest. We will learn what kind of animals live in the rain forest and around the Amazon River. What will we do, see and visit? We will celebrate Brazilian Mardi Gras, make Mardi Gras Masks and learn to Samba and Tango. Programme: Brazilian garden party – Wednesday 9 August at 10:00 am AUSTRALIA and NEW ZEALAND 14. 8. – 18. 8. 2017 Australia is a country comprising the mainland of theAustralian continent, the island of Tasmania, and numerous smaller islands. It is the world's sixth-largest country by total area. Neighbouring countries include Indonesia, East Timor and Papua New Guinea to the north; the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu to the northeast; and New Zealand to the south-east. What will we learn? Where to find Australia and New Zealand on the map, what language people speak there, what is their culture like. We will also talk about the main interesting places like Sydney opera house, Lord of the rings. Children will also learn about the time difference, why that happens and what does it mean. We will talk about the fact, that people in Australia sleep when we are awake and the other way around. What we will do and see? We will have a picnic in the nature and will also play games and have a Lord of the Rings hunt. Children will have to find a ring and complete few tasks. We will also play and run a lot. Trip: Toulcův dvůr – Wednesday 16 August, departure time 9:00 am ANTARCTICA 21. 8. – 25. 8. 2017 Antarctica is containing the geographic South Pole. It is situated in the Antarctic region of the Southern Hemisphere, it is the fifth-largest continent in area after Asia, Africa, North America, and South America. For comparison, Antarctica is nearly twice the size of Australia. Antarctica, on average, is the coldest, driest, and windiest continent. The temperature in Antarctica has reached −89 °C. What will we learn? During this week we will talk about Antartica weather, animals and environment. We will also learn about ice – how is it made and that it melts in the sun. We will talk about igloos, eskymos and what people that live in Antractica can do for living. We will watch short videos about penguins from youtube and also make some simple crafts. What we will do and see? Children will get a map, where they will stick the animals which they have to place accordingly to their country of origin. Younger children will only color them in. Programme: Podvodníčci – Wednesday 23 August at 10:00 am AROUND THE WORLD 28. 8. – 1. 9. 2017 This week we will revise and talk about each continent, people, fauna and flora, traditions, culture, languages and play a lot of memory games, make art and craft projects and have fun every day.
