Take Me Home, Country Roads - A Tribute to John Denver
April 12-14, 2016 in Minneapolis
John Denver was an American singer-songwriter, actor, activist
and humanitarian, whose greatest commercial success was as a
solo singer, starting in the 1970s. Some of his hit songs include
“Sunshine on My Shoulders”, “Thank God I’m a Country Boy”
and “Rocky Mountain HIgh.” He sang of his love for nature,
wildlife, marine life, and people. This specially themed trip will
include stops that John himself would have enjoyed! Spend two
nights at the Radisson Hotel in Roseville, MN. This tour includes:
Plymouth Playhouse - We have reserved seats for the show
“Country Roads, The Music of John Denver” This musical debut
starring Dennis Curley, is backed by a six-piece band. Curley
intersperses songs with personal recollections of growing up with
John Denver’s music as well as stories from family and friends.
Como Park Zoo and Conservatory - Enjoy a private, behindthe-scenes zoo tour, and free time to explore the conservatory.
Minnesota Sea Life Aquarium - See the world’s largest
underground aquarium. Another behind-the-scenes tour is scheduled, plus time to explore on your own.
The Raptor Center at the University of Minnesota Remember John Denver’s song “The Eagle and the Hawk?” This facility specializes in the medical care,
rehabilitation and conservation of eagles, hawks, owls and falcons. We will meet some of them!

Storm Lake, IA 50588
Storm Lake • Cherokee • Spirit Lake • Sioux City • West Des Moines
These pictures were taken on our “Back into the 1950’s” trip on October 21. It was a beautiful fall day, as you
can see from the group photo on the left. In the front, kneeling down with black clothes on is home owner Harold
Geist, with wife Carol right behind him. They both dress in 50’s styles--hair-do’s and all--and have decorated their
entire home to remember the “good ‘ole days.” On the right is one of the many juke boxes that Harold has
restored, and the couple still inserts coins to play it. They have a “secret room” that is not seen until a button is
pushed and an automatic door slides open revealing a 50’s style malt shop complete with a dance floor!
