Honors Algebra 2

Honors Algebra II Summer Packet
Dear Incoming Honors Algebra II students for 2016-2017,
First I’d like to say how much I am looking forward to having each of you in class this fall! I
know we are going to have a great time learning more about math together. To facilitate that,
there are a number of things that you really need to be familiar with BEFORE school starts in
the fall.
The topics covered in this packet are among those most fundamental to basic Algebra. For
most or all of you, it has been some time since you took Algebra I and some of these topics
may require some review on your part. The skills included are absolutely essential to success in
Algebra II and beyond.
I will be collecting these packets to count as a homework assignment on the first Monday of
school. Furthermore, there will be a test over this material during the first week of school, so
come prepared.
I hope you have a wonderful summer, and I am looking forward to getting to know you in the
fall!
Best,
Mrs. Lieb
Honors Algebra II Summer Packet
Work all problems on a SEPARATE SHEET OF PAPER. Use graph paper where appropriate. Copy the original
problem and show all your work. All students should complete all problems in this packet. If you have difficulty
with any of the type of problems, it is recommended that you practice more problems of the same type. Use your
school books or websites such as khanacademy.org for extra help as needed. Each topic is listed so it can be easily typed
into a search engine if necessary.

42. The senior classes at High School A and High School B planned separate trips to the indoor climbing
gym. The senior class at High School A rented and filled 2 vans and 3 buses with 105 students. High
school B rented and filled 14 vans and 6 buses with 270 students. All vans have the same capacity, as
do all buses. How many students can a van carry? How many students can a bus carry?
