COOL THINGS: HOW TO FIGURE OUT THE DAY OF THE WEEK YOU WERE BORN IT WORKS FOR ANY DATE FROM 1900 TO 1999. FROM 2000 ON . . . SEE " IV." BELOW. 1) 2) To do it . . . you need a pen or pencil, paper and a calculator. Each month and each day of the week has the following secret code number: January February March April May June 3) STEPS: 1 2 3 4 1 4 4 0 2 5 July August September October November December 0 3 6 1 4 6 Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday 1 2 4 5 6 7 7 8 - OK, let's say you were born May 23, 1995. Take the last two digits of the year . . . Multiply it by 5 . . . Divide that number by 4 . . . Get rid of the decimal point and all the numbers to the right of the decimal point . . . Note: If there is no decimal point you were born in a leap year . . . skip this step. Add the month code. Look at the chart, the month code for May is 2 . . . Add the date. In this case, it is 23... Use your calculator and divide by 7 . . . 5 Thursday Friday * Saturday 95 × 5 = 475 ÷ 4 = 95 475 118.75 118.75 = 118 118 + 2 = 120 120 + 23 = 143 ÷ 7 = 143 20.428571 Look at the first number to the right of the decimal point in Step 7. It is 4. Go to the chart and you see that 4 is a Tuesday. So, if you were born on May 23, 1995 you were born on a Tuesday. If there is no decimal after Step 7, you were born on a Saturday *. The only time this does not work exactly as above is . . . if you were born in January or February of a leap year. In that case, you were born one day earlier than the pattern. Example: If you were born in say January, 1992 (a leap year) and you figured out from the steps that you were born on a Thursday, you were actually born on a Wednesday. 4) Beginning with the year 2000 you need to add 100 to the number in Step 1. Let's say you were born June 17, 2003 . . . take the last two digits of the year, which is 03 and add 100 to it and you have 103. Then follow the rest of the steps exactly as indicated above.
