Grand Canyon: Monument to the Flood

Standing high above the horizon on Mount Rushmore, a gigantic granite tower, proudly standing 5,500 feet so all can see
are four faces of Presidents; George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt. Millions of
visitors a year witness this colossal structure measuring 60 foot high as tall as a six story building with these figures facial
features carved carefully so large that their noses are 20 feet long, each eye 11 feet
in width and their mouths stretching 18 feet in length. It took 14 years to complete
this solid granite sculpture with the tedious job of removing 800 million pounds
of hard rock that was well planned and orchestrated to give this marvelous monument we appreciate today. Such a process is totally contrary to evolutionary ideology.
As we look at the grand design of the universe and find the many laws that keep it
together like the gravitational constants and the numerous laws that govern light this
did not come from explosion without a plan. Much of Mount Rushmore granite had
to be removed by dynamite which was produced by many directed explosions which
was already preconceived by an outside source. It did not come to be by millions of
millions of years of trial error lift by natural forces of wind, rain, and earth quakes to be the beauty of design it came to be.
To conceive that this monument did not come from an outside intelligent source would be preposterous on the highest level.
Evolutionary processes proposed today that our taught in our schools and universities are illogical to the core especially when
we look at the complexity of cell which is stupendously more organized in function and design than this magnificent monument. Mount Rushmore is testimony to Creation by design and evolutionists are blinded to even this simple comparison.
Grand Canyon: Monument to the Flood
It was a miracle in itself. There I was in
1978 walking into Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church. I had been a devout atheist
and evolutionist—until I gave my life to
Jesus Christ some
24 hours earlier.
Having just met
Christ, I was now
about to hear a
message from Dr.
D. James Kennedy on, of all
things, the creation evolution debate. .He
handled the subject with such expertise
that I was totally impressed.
Godʼs divine plan put me in Dr. Kennedyʼs
church that day so that I could be taught,
encouraged and led by him to follow
Godʼs calling. Ten years later, motivated
by Dr. Kennedyʼs boldness to speak the
biblical truth about how all things came
to be, I called a group of people together
in my Sunday school to form Creation
Studies Institute.
Dr. Kennedy told me that he had addressed the creation topic from his pulpit since the early 1960s because he believed it was foundational to the Church
and mankind. He supported our creation
efforts in every way and even helped us
launch CSI to the nation in 2004. Over the
years I have had many conversations with
Dr. Kennedy about the creation message
and know that he wants us to continue
the “good fight”—to destroy the Devilʼs
great lie of evolution. We will continue
boldly as Dr. Kennedy has encouraged us
to do, and never cease reaching the world
with the truths of creation.
There is an enormous amount of evidence in the largest hole in the crust of the earth that
speaks loudly for a young earth. That evidence is the majestic Grand Canyon in Northern Arizona. It carves into the earthʼs crust to a depth of one mile and stretches 277
miles. It is an awesome site to behold—a monument of the Genesis Flood. There is also
testimony of Godʼs judgment through the enormous destruction in the many layers of
canyon rock, which also demonstrates there was a great amount of water in a short period
of time. When morning gives birth to the sunʼs light, the canyon has its own dynamics as
the light reflects off the many distinctive textured rock layers, giving creative beauty that
changes as the sun rises and sets. It is here in this deep hole that geologists have their
“heyday.” The earth is exposed, revealing rocks that are clearly differentiated and stratified. We can see geological history unfold. This is where the controversy really begins.
Evolutionary time has to be extremely long, and change has to come very slowly, much
too slowly for us to see. Evolutionists chant that it took millions and millions of years
for these exposed rock layers to come to be. Creationists have a completely opposite
perspective. Their conclusion is that the Grand Canyon is a testimonial to Noahʼs Flood.
The Grand Canyon in its all grandeur has a plethora of outstanding evidence that gives
scientific support of a worldwide flood, as stated in Genesis 6-9. There is a staggering
amount of earth that has been displaced over 900 miles. Erosion with unimaginable colossal forces had to have formed this canyon, digging out a 4-18 mile wide trench on
the southwestern part of the Colorado plateau. What could be the origin of this powerful
force that moved all that rock and dirt? The Colorado River flowing
at the bottom of the canyon was once theorized to be the cause
of much of the erosion. Geologists are now questioning this
theory, because there is no trace of the enormous amount of
earth that would be displaced, and the energy to move all
the rock and dirt could not come from just one
river. That amount of erosion had to be generated by a catastrophic event. Many geologists today have adopted a new model of the canyon, agreeing that
some sort of catastrophic
water event caused that
massive erosion.

Even with the acceptance of this catastrophic flood model, evolutionists still steadfastly
hold on to the old age theory of the canyon. Their own stubbornness to “long ages” as a
pet theory has perpetuated numerous explanations and processes for the canyon formation–without agreement. They have professed that the canyon is a geological history book
with rock layer upon rock layer giving us a continuum of volcanic type of rock dating as far
back as 1.7 – 2.0 billion years ago, although it is not as continuum as it should be. There
are millions and even billions of years missing.
Charles Lyell, in his Principles of Geology, published in 1830-1833, promoted the faith of evolutionary time of millions and millions of years and
extremely slow change. It is well documented that
Lyell gave Charles Darwin the background used
to develop his theory of evolution by natural selection. This gave Darwin the amount of time he
needed to develop his theory. Time is the invisible
force that holds infinite power, according to evolutionary propaganda. In the Chicago Field Museum at the entrance of the “Hall of Life
Over Time.”, carved in the front marble column is this quote, “Time is unimportant and
never difficult for nature. It is always at her disposal and represents an unlimited power
in which she accomplishes her greatest and smallest tasks.”
This is the real battlefield. Those who profess Christ as Creator and King must acknowledge that we need to do away with the myth of long ages of evolution. There have been an
abundance of resources produced over the years that demonstrate overwhelmingly that the
earth is not billions of years, but thousands of years old. The Grand Canyon is great testimony to a young earth and worldwide flood. Evidence acquired over the years supports a
Creationist viewpoint. The Genesis Flood has been diligently studied by Dr. Steve Austin,
chief geologist of the Institute of Creation Research (ICR). Other Creation scientists have
thoroughly researched the formation of canyon, with all its multitudes of its rock layers and
its variety of fossils. They have produced compelling evidences for a catastrophic worldwide flood. ICR produced a wonderful resource video entitled, Grand Canyon: Monument
to the Flood. Five outstanding creation geologists were filmed standing in different parts
of the canyon and explaining with much vigor the evidences for a catastrophic event and
pointing to the fossils, geological formations, and the rock strata that make it clear that the
canyon was formed quickly. This DVD shows powerful evidence for the Genesis Flood
and should be seen by everyone, especially students in high school and college. In 1986 I
took my family to the Grand Canyon. At the South Rim we participated in a nature hike led
by a young lady who was one of the park rangers. As we moved about 7,000 feet above sea
level, she pointed out all sorts of marine fossils. I asked her, “How did the ocean get here?”
She referred to the earthʼs plates colliding and forming the mountains. I pursued this further and asked her if she had ever considered that a catastrophic worldwide flood was used
to cause the complete formation of the canyon. She smiled and said she had never heard
that theory. How many have never been witnessed to about the many evidences to support
the Genesis Flood? It is apparent that God wants us to remind each other about giving testimony to His judgment, because as it states in 2 Peter 3:5-6 , “But they deliberately forget
that long ago by Godʼs word the heavens existed and the earth was formed out of water and
by water. By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed.”
How do the sedimentary
rocks get hard?
God has given us the Grand Canyon
as a monument to the worldwide
flood. We need to take this seriously
and share Godʼs glory and His judgment with others. As in Hosea 4:6 ,
“My people are destroyed from lack
of knowledge.”

Sedimentary rock needs water for cementing the tiny particles of sediment
together. Where did the water come
from? Evolutionists resolve this dilemma by waving the magic wand of "time."
They insist that the sediments are
washed into rivers, lakes, and oceans,
and they fall to the bottom and pile
up in layers. After many years, these
sediments harden in layers, with
those on the bottom hardening first.
The problem with this theory is that
there are beds of sedimentary rock
everywhere on top of the earth's crust.
Most of the large mountain chains
are made of sedimentary rocks.
How did all those sediments collect and become cemented together
to make towering mountains? The
logical answer is a worldwide Flood.

Popular science teacher Tom DeRosa presents evidence from astronomy, geology, biology, and history
to show why Darwin's theory is at
odds not just with Genesis, but with
the facts of science itself.
The Geological Column theorizes that the complexity of fossils in the ground will increase
as one ascends the column toward the earthʼs surface. Thus, the placement of a fossil in
the Geological Column determines the age of the fossil. If you were to dig a big hole,
you would expect to find, according to the Geological Column, an orderly progression
of fossils with the most simple at the bottom and the more complex toward the top. The
theory holds that successive strata are marked with
index fossils. It is important to note that sedimentary rocks, the rocks in which all fossils are found,
cannot be dated by the radioisotope dating method;
instead, these rocks are dated by means of index
fossils. Were you to find an index fossil, you would
be able to take that fossil to the geological record to
determine the age of the stratum in which the fossil
was found. The strata are rock layers supposedly
laid down millions of years ago. Sedimentary rock
layers cannot be dated on their own. They need index fossils. But how was the age of
individual index fossils in the Geological Column determined? They were determined on
the presupposition that evolution is true. The rock age was determined by evolution. Yet
evolutionists lean on the Geological Column to affirm evolution. This is circular reasoning. This poses something of a problem: If we date the rocks by the fossils, how can we
then turn around and talk about the pattern of evolutionary change through time in the
fossil record?” (Eldridge, Niles, Time Frames , 1985, p. 52)
“A circular argument arises: Interpret the fossil record in the terms of a particular theory
of evolution, inspect the interpretation, and note that it confirms the theory. Well, it would,

Nowhere in the earth is this complete column observable. There are small sections available in different parts of the world. One of the most impressive formations is the Grand
Canyon. There are several geological layers representing the Paleozoic era exposed in the
canyon. Even with the biggest hole on earth, the Grand Canyon, the geological formations,
compared to the complete record, are terribly incomplete. Things have not changed in this
area over the years. Brown, Monnet, and Stovall in their geology text, Introduction to Geology , made an honest assessment of the incompleteness problem; “If the complete story
of the earth is compared to an encyclopedia of thirty volumes, then we can seldom hope to
find even one complete volume in a given area. Sometime
only a few chapters, perhaps only a paragraph or
two will be the total geological contribution
of a region; indeed, we are often reduced
to studying scattered bits of information more nearly to a few words

Decay of the Earth's Magnetic Field
The earth has a dipolar magnetic field that runs from the North Pole to the South Pole. The
earth's magnetic field is generated by an electromagnet that is produced by currents within
the earth's interior. Dr. Thomas Barnes has done groundbreaking work on the decay of
the strength of the earth's magnetic field. Measuremets have been made around the world
since 1829 of the magnetic field strength, and it has been determined that it has decreased
by 7%. The data from the measurements since 1829 fit the equation for exponential decay.
From this Dr. Barnes has calculated that the earth's magnetic field
loses half its strength every 1400
years. This means it has a halflife of 1400 years. It also means
that 1400 years ago the magnetic
field was twice as strong as it is
now, and 1400 years from now it
will be half as strong as it is now.

shields out harmful cosmic rays.

it would be impossible for life to exist on earth. Dr. Barnes extrapolated the decay to
curve back in time, doubling its strength every 1400 years and determined that life would
be impossible on earth only 20,000 years ago, and that 100,000 years ago the magnetic strength of earth would have been the same as a magnetic star. (*Morris, John 1994)
There are, of course, some secular scientists who do not agree with Dr. Barnes extrapolations. A scientist named Brush says he can fit a straight line through the same points
Barnes used, and that a stright line extrapolation means that it would take a hundred million years to reach the point where no life would be possible on earth due to the extreme strength of the magnetic field. It would seem to me that Brush, in his zeal to prove
Barnes incorrect, has essentially put a maximum age limit of life on earth at something
much less that 100 million years. That would seem to be big problem for the evolutionists who say life began on earth 4.5 billion years ago. One hundred million years does
not give evolution enough time to work with to evolve any organism. (Morris, J. 1994)
Another interesting side effect of a stronger magnetic field in the past would have been to
block out more cosmic rays which create Carbon 14 in the upper atmosphere. this would
have severely decreased the amount of Carbon 14 in the past and would therefore give an
apparent age, by the Carbon 14 dating method, that is much older than what it should actually be. (Morris, J. 1994) Remember one of the problems with radiometric dating is that
assumption that conditions have remained the same throughout time.

We had 21 people join us for the 2007 Dino Digs which took place July 23-27 and July 30Aug 3, with all attendees having the unique opportunity to unearth the remains of two or
more T-Rex and Triceratops dinosaurs. Among the finds were three T-Rex teeth, sections
of vertebra, and several ribs and the scapula from the Triceratops, found on two separate
areas of the property. The excitement was high because
the finds were so numerous and often, that we hardly
noticed the temperatures reaching 112 on the first two
days! Besides the awesome time we had during the actual excavation, our evenings were spent breaking bread
together and enjoying a time of creation teaching.
On the sixth day of Creation, God
made man. Genesis 2:7 states, "And
the Lord God formed man from the
dust of the ground and breathed into
his nostrils the breath of life, and man
became a living being." The Hebrew
word for man is adam and sounds like
the word for ground which is adamah.
The chemical composition for "dust"
or the ground is: hydrogen, oxygen,
carbon, nitrogen, calcium, phosphorous, sulfur, potassium, and
chlorine. And we gardeners like
to add some sodium and magnesium to keep things growing well.

the form of water - H2O), carbon,
nitrogen, calcium, phosphorous, sulfur, potassium, chlorine, sodium and
magnesium. From this you can definitely get the picture that God means
what He says.

The testimonies of Godʼs blessings poured out during
our Friday evening share time. Galen Kubin, a farmer,
drove all the way from Kansas with his two grandsons,
Rev. Jim Fasold with 10 year old
(Chris, who is 21 and 17 year old Jon,) to join us on the
grandson, Caleb uncovering a

first dig. They experienced a bonding time that all three
will never forget. The first group this year actually consisted of three sets of Grandfather/
Grandsons. We had Rev. Jim Fasold, a missionary to Spain, and his 10 year old grandson, Caleb, whose parents are missionaries in Ireland. Young Caleb hit pay dirt when he
uncovered the largest find of the dig. A scapula of the Triceratops that measured over 30
inches in length and over 9 inches wide! Also joining us were Don Dupar and his 15 year
old grandson, Anthony, from Santa Rosa California. Anthony may consider going into
dentistry since he found he had a special ability to extract T-Rex teeth! Returning this year
were Dad and daughter, Tom and Kirsten Schultz, who had also been with us in our 2005
Dig. Tom was of great assistance to both Terry Beh, our excavation guide and Otis Kline,
who is the property owner and our Montana host for the dig. With a little past experience
under his belt, Tom proved to be a great help to the team.
