A. 1. The special features that help a bird fly are as follows:
i. Light body – birds have hollow bones so their body are very light.
ii.Boat shaped body – the body of a bird is streamlined or boat shaped that helps it to fly through
air easily.
iii.
Feathers – The wings have feathers attached to them that helps a bird to fly high in the sky.
iv. Tail – The tail of a bird helps a bird to change its directions.
v. Movement of wings – Birds flutter their wings when they want to fly.
2. Birds have three types of feathers.
i. Down Feather – These are small and fluffy. They cover the entire body of a bird and keep them
warm.
ii.
Flight Feather – These are found in the wings and the tail. They help the bird to fly.
iii.
Body Feather – they also cover entire body of a bird and give it shape.

A duck has a flat and broad beak with tiny holes on the sides. The duck takes in muddy water
along with insects, worms and water plants. The mud and the water flow out through the tiny hole
leaving behind insects and worms.

Eagles and falcons have very strong, sharp and large claws called talons. These are like hooks to
grip flesh and are as sharp as knives. These birds can swoop down from the sky and catch a running
animal with great speed.

A cuckoo is a lazy bird and does not build a nest for laying eggs. It lays its eggs in the nest of some
other bird which hatches the eggs and take care of the young ones.
