Comics Plus: Library Edition is an application which provides digital comics and graphic novels at a per checkout price and allows simultaneous circulation. CONTENT MANAGEMENT & PATRON ACCESS What titles are available? More than 7,000 digital comics and graphic novels are available for all ages and interests from dozens of major publishers. Our catalog includes such titles as: Big Nate (Andrews McMeel) Absolute Boyfriend (Viz) Ninjago (Papercutz) Archie (Archie Comics) Kung Fu Panda (Ape Entertainment) Jim Henson’s Fraggle Rock (Archaia Entertainment) Battlestar Galactica (Dynamite Entertainment) Classics Illustrated (Trajectory Media) Vampire Hunter D (Digital Manga) How are age ratings determined? Kids (children to tweens): Elementary to Middle School, Ages 5-12+ Content ranges from picture books, beginning reader, early reader to middle school areas of interest. Stories range from animation-based brands and humor to action/adventure and superheroes aimed at young readers. Titles for tweens include fiction, nonfiction, science fiction, action/adventure, and fantasy themes. Teen/Young Adult: Upper Middle School to Early High School, Ages 14+ Content and subject matter range from action/adventure, mystery, science fiction to fantasy along with memoir and literary fiction. Some violence is allowed, and there may be some language such as damn, hell, or crap. Mature: High School and beyond, Ages 16+ Content, concepts and subject matter can be considered similar to PG-13 film ratings with fiction, historical fiction, nonfiction, fantasy, action, satire, horror, science fiction, and thriller elements as well as serious psychological themes about family, friendships, and other personal relationships. Mature content may also include realistically depicted action, some sexual themes and coarse language. Adult: Adults Only, Ages 18+ Deeper concepts, subject matter and mature themes, and may contain R rated levels of content such as violence, language, sexual themes and nudity. How is mature and adult content handled? Age restrictions are clearly identified at the item level. You have full control to include or exclude content ratings—Kids, Teens, Mature and Adult. Once excluded, content cannot be seen by patrons and is not available for checkout. How do I access circulation data? Based on the popular Comics Plus digital platform with more than 20 million consumer downloads, the service is user-friendly for patrons. An icon on your website links directly to the web-based application. Dedicated mobile apps are under development and will be available soon. A library card ID is used to login, browse and checkout titles. Upon checkout, a title is accessible for two weeks on any device via a web browser. You determine the number of downloads allowed per patron per week. PRICE & BUDGET MANAGEMENT What is the price? You determine a weekly or monthly budget maximum which can be increased or decreased at any time, or you can choose to pay as you go, depositing funds at your own pace. All item prices are per checkout. Select free titles are always available, even when the budget is exhausted. How can I modify my subscription to meet patron demand? Your budget maximum can be increased or decreased at any time online. Is there a minimum commitment or subscription period? There is no contract or minimum budgetary commitment, only a general Terms of Service agreement which is good for two years from the point of enrollment. Libraries may leave the service at any time with 30-day notice with no fees or penalties. What are the billing details? You may pay via PayPal or credit card. The selected account is billed automatically on a weekly or monthly basis, in accordance with your budget guidelines. You will never be billed more than your allotted budget maximum, and you will only be billed for services that you and your patrons actually use. MAINTENANCE What software updates and maintenance are required? Patrons will be prompted to make typical application updates as necessary. The library will also have occasional software updates.
