Grant Writer Job Description The Irvington Community Schools Grant Writer performs grant research, writing, and reporting. The ICS Grant Writer is charged with developing and maintaining a successful grant writing program to provide critical support for our educational programming and expand our ability to offer even greater educational-related opportunities for the community we serve. This is a parttime position. Primary Responsibilities: • Conduct ongoing searches for grant-funded opportunities that align well with ICS programming and other operational needs that call for funding support; keep administrators informed of funding opportunities and recommendations to pursue appropriate grants. • Write and submit grant proposals to secure funding to meet the needs of ICS and its faculty. • Collaborate with the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Director of Development and the ICS Board of Directors on solicitation and proposals to corporate sponsors. • Develop and maintain grant procedures; track and provide status of submitted proposals; follow-up whenever appropriate. • Generate required reports to fulfill grant guidelines; meet all reporting deadlines. • Help ICS acknowledge all grantors according to guidelines specified in grant agreements. • Create a grant evaluation model to optimize and streamline the identification of grant opportunities that appear to be a good match with ICS needs for funding. • Maintain Bloomerang donor management database under the direction of the ICS Director of Development. • Identify and track all internal fundraising initiatives. Qualifications: Critical thinker with excellent grant writing skills; proven grant writing track record; outstanding grant researcher. Minimum of 3 years grant writing experience, and experience in grant writing in the field of education a plus. Other qualifications include: • Proficient and proven in grant project management • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills • Outstanding verbal communication and presentation skills • Works well under pressure and produces on deadline • Solid working understanding of Microsoft Office • Strong analytical ability • Self-starter who is able to work well independently • A true team player — servant leader — willing to pitch in to complete needed tasks • Committed to supporting the ICS mission of providing quality K-12 education in an urban community Candidates should hold a four-year college degree in Fundraising/Philanthropy, Journalism, Communications, English or a related area, or must have the equivalent in proven experience.
