15 The Distributive Property
The distributive property states that multiplication can be distributed to each value in a sum or difference of values.
a(b + c) = 4(20 + 6) = 4(20) + 4(6)
(b + c)a = (x + 3)5 = x(5) + 3(5)
a(b c) =
2(3 4x) = 2(3) (2)(4x)
(b c)a = (x 7)3 = x(3) 7(3)
What is the simplified form of each expression?

Just like multiplication can be distributed to a sum or a difference, so can division. What is the simplified form of each expression?
Definitions:
Term: a number, variable, or a product of a number and variable(s)
Constant: a term that has no variable
Coefficient: the numerical factor of a term
Like Terms: terms that have the same variable(with same exponents) factors
An algebraic expression in simplest form has no like terms or parenthesis. All like terms have been combined.
