AUTOMOBILE EXTENSION
Coverage on unlicensed personal use vehicles placed in storage is automatic when the vehicle is
scheduled on the current policy. (As per Bulletin of March 24, 2004)
“Slide-in” camper or top used with your auto: We will automatically cover up to one camper and one
top. The camper or top is covered on or off the auto. It is covered for the same causes of loss as the
auto. The same deductible applies and only one deductible will be used for each loss.
Claims
In order to process Claims quickly and efficiently, the Claims Department must know the five W's - WHO,
WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, and WHY.
Submit a Complete Automobile Claims Report Form for the most effective response to your Customers'
Claims.
Glass Claims - Submit Claims Report Form, along with the repair invoice or replacement account,
indicating where damage was. If you are aware of the claim beforehand, submit report so that a file may
be set up. The Insured may be instructed to advise the repair firm of the Policy Number and deductible so
that the invoice may be submitted directly.
Claims involving a Third Party - If the Insured is involved in an accident where damage is sustained to
property of another (whether automobile or otherwise), there must be a report made to Saskatchewan
Government Insurance as the primary liability coverage is provided by the Plate insurance. If it is
determined that the Insured is at fault, submit a Claims Report Form so that the portion covered by the
policy may be processed.
Claims over $700 (Single Vehicle) - If the Insured has been involved in a single vehicle accident where
the damage to the vehicle insured is over $700, there must be a report made to Saskatchewan
Government Insurance. Once the Insured has reported to SGI, submit a Claims Report Form so that the
portion covered by the policy may be processed.
Claims under $700 (Single Vehicle) - If the Insured has been involved in a minor accident, have them
obtain a written repair estimate and submit the repair estimate with the Claims Report Form for approval
to have the repairs completed.
Special Loss Deductible Feature
For all Insureds carrying both Homeowners and Automobile Extension Policies with Aviva, any loss
involving both the insured automobile and personal property, only one deductible, equal to the greater of
the deductible on the Homeowners and Automobile Policy, will be charged.
e.g. - The Insured has an Aviva Automobile Extension Policy at $100 deductible and a Homeowners
Policy with Aviva at $200 deductible. A loss occurs wherein the Insured vehicle is in collision with
the garage covered by the Insured's Homeowners Policy. There is $400 damage to the vehicle
and $300 damage to the garage door. The loss payment would be $500 (equal to the $700 total
repair costs less the deductible of $200).
