BMSS December News
BMSS Food Drive
A BIG thank you to all of our students and
parents who contributed to our First Food
Drive. We had the opportunity to help the
Broward Outreach Center replenish their
pantries so they can feed homeless children,
women, and men in our community. We
donated a total of 459 non-perishables items
which gives a total of 950 pounds
approximately of food. BMSS could not have
experienced this level of success without all
of your generous contribution.
Everybody is a winner for donating, but a
special thank you to our 4th grade class who
donated the most items and won the Ice
Cream Party and Dress-Down Day.
Congratulations 4th grade!
Parent-Teacher Conferences
We believe that education is a shared
responsibility and that a successful student
depends on the cooperation of everyone
concerned: students, parents, and staff.
We will be issuing the Progress Reports on
February 10 and we are having ParentTeacher conferences on February 11 from
4:00 pm until 6:00 pm to go over the reports.
Lost and Found
We have many jackets, sweaters, and other
items in our lost and found. Please remind
your child to check the lost and found in the
cafeteria. We are asking that you please label
your child’s outerwear and lunch boxes to
enable us to return them to their owner.
All items not claimed by December 18 will be
donated to a local charity.
Successful Book Fair
& Parent Night
Our first Scholastic Book Fair was a huge
success. We raised $1,452. Those dollars
will be turning into Scholastic Points
towards books for the Media Center. We
will be adding to our AR books selection
thanks to everyone that bought items from
the Book Fair.
There was no left over pizza or cake for our
Parent Night, so a big thank you to all the
parents that came Thursday night to enjoy
eating and buying books together.
None of this would have been possible
without all of the wonderful volunteers
who helped out by either setting up,
working, or taking part in the Book Fair.
A special thank you to Mrs. Sirimanne who
was in charge of the Book Fair.
Early Checkouts
If you have a scheduled doctor
appointment and/or any emergencies,
please contact the school before picking
the child up so that the student can be
ready when called. Please know that the
class is interrupted and the teacher has to
stop teaching when a student is tardy, or
leaves early.
Please a reminder that we cannot check out
for the last 30 minutes before dismissal.
Lunch
If your child brings lunch from home, please
make sure it is ready to eat by 11:30 am.
We do not heat or cook any food. Please do
not send frozen food and/or food that
needs preparation. Thank you.
Fundraising Activity
Winter Break Celebration
We are having a Fundraising Activity at BMSS
that will go towards equipment and
resources for the library. We are selling the
World’s Finest Chocolate. Each chocolate is
$1.00 and you can purchase it at the front
desk.
If you would like to help us fundraising by
selling a case of delicious chocolates, please
come to the Front Desk.
The excitement of the holiday season is
upon us! There is no better way to
celebrate the holidays than with a Winter
Celebration Party.
It will be on Wednesday, December 17.
Each classroom needs food donations in
order to make the party a success.
Please fill out the donation form and return
it with your child to their teacher.
Please know that any donations need to
be store bought.
