KS1 Topic: Famous People
In English we will be inves
ga
ng into William Shakespeare. We will look at playscripts
and their features, perform to each other by using a playscript and in Y2 re-tell a scene
using playscript format. We shall focus on A Midsummer Night’s Dream and shall be doing
descrip
ve wri
ng linked to the play. We shall also be fact wri
ng around famous people.
Helping at home ideas:

cs homework sent out on FRIDAYS,
to be handed in on WEDNESDAYS.
In RE Y1 will be asking Who is Jesus and Y2 will be investigating into Is the World a Fair
Place.
*There will be occasions when English homework will be replaced by homework around the topic.
• Please read with your child each day and use the reading
diaries to revise sounds and words.
• Please ensure named PE kits and reading books are in
school every day.
• Please ensure everything, including drink bo?les and book
bags, are clearly labelled.

ng melines and placing famous people (William Shakespeare, Pochahontas, Florence Nigh
ngale/Mary Seacole, Mo Farah/Jess Ennis) upon
them. We will be looking at the lives of significant individuals from the past and present
and the legacy that they have le4. We will be researching comparisons between Tudor
and present mes. Y2 shall also make a family tree.

Native America lives and
how they lived
As Musicians we will learn about Tudor musical instruments and perform a Tudor dance.
Children will also focus on a modern song and from it will learn about beat, rhythm and
will experiment with percussion instruments and recorders alongside the piece of music.
Y1 will be learning In the Groove which focusses on one song linking interrelated dimensions of music. Y2 will also be rehearsing for the Godalming music fes
val.
As Geographers we will be using world maps to locate famous people and movement and
migra
on of people. We will also be looking at how people travelled in the past compared
to now.
As Design Technologists we will be making a sling which we shall use in our role play area
and construc
ng a tee-pee. We shall also be designing and making dream-catchers and
totem poles.
As Computer users we will be programming B-bots and researching famous people by
using the internet .
As Ar
sts we will be making Tudor stained-glass windows and will be doing Na
ve American art.
