The carnival is in town! Betsy and her friends spent the day enjoying the
rides, games, and food at the carnival on Saturday. They had a grand
time, almost got sick on a couple of the rides, had way too much to eat, and
even won some prizes in the games. On the way home, they compared notes
about their favorite parts. Determine the full names of the girls, their favorite
rides, what game each won a prize at, and what their favorite carnival food was.
1. Ms. Walker didn’t like the roller coaster. Martha Fischer won a prize at the batting box but
didn’t have a caramel apple or any cotton candy.
2. Sara and Ms. Rice didn’t like the Ferris wheel or the soft pretzels. Alice didn’t like the
carousel. Ms. Walker won a prize while playing in the arcade.
3. Betsy didn’t play in the arcade but loved popcorn. Alice won a prize at the fishing pool. The
girl who loved the teacups also loved ice cream.
4. The girl who played skee ball loved the Ferris wheel. Ms. Fox liked the flying fish ride.
5. Heidi, whose last name wasn’t Walker, didn’t try the caramel apple. Ms. Sparrow didn’t win
at the ring toss. Ms. Rice loved the caramel apples.
6. The five friends are Ms. Sparrow, Heidi, the girl who loved the teacups, the girl who liked
the cotton candy, and the girl whose favorite ride was the roller coaster.
