FPD 2016-2017 Competition Team Meeting & Audition
Being a part of the Flash Pointe Dance Competition Team is the
perfect opportunity for dancers who love to perform and be on
stage. If you have a dedicated dancer ready to take it to the
next level, consider attending our Competition Team
Informational Meeting and Open Audition.
Does your dancer love performing on stage? Competitive
dance offers the perfect opportunity for your child to perform
several times a year in a much bigger “creative pond”.
Additionally, team members attend dance conventions with
world renowned choreographers and instructors, and perform
for local and national charitable organizations. Self esteem,
exceptional technical training, elite work ethic, commitment,
loyalty and teamwork are qualities that our Competition Team
will help to develop in your dancer. There will be two
opportunities to attend the meeting (reservation encouraged)
and audition (pre-registration required).

The finishing touch to any performance preparation is hair and

bun/ponytail, conquer the formidable “false eyelash”, and create a
beautiful performance and camera ready face. Once you have learned these tips and tools, please invest
some practice time – picture and performance day will be much calmer if you are comfortable with the
preparation.
Reservations are recommended for this free session. Feel free to bring your dancer and make up and hair
supplies to the training.
What You Need To Know About Recital Costumes
Recital distribution is underway and it is important to try on the
costume and make alterations needed to ensure proper and secure fit
as soon as you receive it. We have not received all of the costumes
from all of our vendors, but please make sure that your account is in
good standing to avoid a delay in the distribution of your dancer’s
costume. Enrollment after the new year may affect your distribution
date as well.
Costumes are made to order and usually cannot be replaced so
please take care of your costume to make sure it is perfect for your
performance day. Here are some tips:
CHECK THE COSTUME LABEL ATTACHED TO THE PACKAGING
OF YOUR COSTUME. IT SPECIFIES THE DESCRIPTION OF YOUR COSTUME AND ALL INCLUDED
PIECES, ADVISES YOU OF THE APPROPRIATE TIGHTS THAT YOU WILL NEED TO PURCHASE FOR
PICTURES/PERFORMANCE, INDICATES HAIR STYLE AND ACCESSORY PLACEMENT, MAKE UP
AND LIPSTICK COLORS, AND CONFIRMS YOUR CLASS SHOE.

Unpack your costume and hang in a safe location to help get rid of any wrinkles. Persistent wrinkles, and
tulle wrinkles can also be removed by a very brief tumble in a warm dryer. Start with a 2 minute cycle, remove
and shake. Progress by 1 minute intervals until your tutu looks good!
Do not wear your costume until your picture day and performance because we cannot guarantee a costume
will be available for replacement.
Check the costume label on the outside of your package for accessories or additional pieces. If your costume
includes an accessory, please store the entire costume together.
Label all costume parts including tights, shoes, and accessories with your child’s name. There will be a
number of children at pictures and backstage with the same costume, costumes can get easily mixed up or lost.
Make it easy for us to get any lost items back to you by having them clearly labeled.
Purchase a new pair of tights to be worn only for pictures and the recital. Washed and worn tights look
different under photography and stage lighting. Make sure to have a fresh pair of the required tights for your
costume. Please note that fishnets will require a fresh pair of Suntan tights as well for modesty, comfort,
and uniform appearance.
Confirm that you have the correct class shoe, that it fits well and is in good repair, well before performance.
Don’t leave this to the last week before pictures.
Fit was based on allowing 1 inch of growth over the year on all measurements for your dancer. Your costume
should fit like a bathing suit if it is dance wear. Straps will need to be adjusted-please refer to your costume
label for positioning if they are not attached.
Ticket Sales Begin April 25
Preferred Ticket Sales begin April 25. Please watch your email to determine when your Preferred Purchase
Date will be. Preferred dates are based on how early you registered for the 2015-16 season. FPD staggers
purchasing days so our families are not camped outside the night before sales begin, and to avoid long
ines. We also love to find ways to reward our loyal clients. If you know your dancer is planning on
continuing next fall, please feel free to register now and get in on the earliest ticket purchasing group! You
can pick specific classes now or at a later date so don’t worry if you don’t know all of the details at this time.
Ticket Prices are $27 and seating is assigned so you will want to purchase your tickets as soon as you can.
Please make sure your accounts are in good standing prior to placing your order.
Send Your Dancer a Love Note in the Program
The dance recital program will become a keepsake for your dancer and family. You can purchase an ad to
showcase a picture of your dancer and/or include a personal message of to celebrate your dancer and their
amazing year at Flash Pointe Dance! If you are a local business, consider placing an advertisement in our
program. It is a great and easy way to reach hundreds of local families.
Start preparing now. Space reservation and submission deadline is May 11.
