Budget Revisions Based Upon APPROVED Revision Requests
2010-2011
Change in Housing Status or Child Care or Dependent Care
In keeping with federal guidelines, the 2010-2011 year student’s institutional budget, upon approved
documentation, may be amended to include:
Changes in planned housing status (after FAFSA filed) expenses
Childcare expenses
Dependent care expenses.
FAU Office of Student Financial Aid counselors will find the appropriate form to give inquiring students on
the Staff only website in “Forms to Download”

The forms provide instructions and list of required documentation to be returned to the Office of Student
Financial Aid for consideration and approval. Each form has individually stated deadlines (to assure time
to complete loan increase transactions).
Front Desk/Mailroom/Counselors:
Upon receipt of a complete revision packet, the form will be placed on RRAAREQ using
Requirement Code “REVBUD” with status of “N”. Incomplete packets will be returned, a note on
RHACOMM with category code = BDGTREV and noting date/reason for return.
Completed packet will be reviewed by appropriate counselor (alpha or campus).
Change in Housing Status approved for the academic year:
o RBAABUD
Next Block
Click on Previous Block 2 times so you have access to the “Group” data field.
Amend Group code to match approved housing status.
Insert Record. Confirm desired budget appears on lower portion of screen (note:
counselors name will now appear in the User ID column).

If Change in Housing Status is APPROVED mid-year:
RBAABUD:
o Next Block
o Click on the Mixed Enrollment Tab
o Amend Fall Budget Group (Ex URFTP)
o Add: Spring Budget Group (Ex. URFTC)
o Add: 50 Percent for both groups
o Save
o Insert Record
* System indicator will show X. It means a Mixed Budget was processed

RHACOMM: Enter category code BDGTREV and input note the approved Change in
Housing status (from: to)
RRAAREQ: Update REVBUD from “N” to “S”.
where status code “N” description states “Received, Not Yet Reviewed”
where status code “S” description states “Satisfied and Processed”
Amend financial aid award using standard revisions procedures.
If DENIED:
RHACOMM: Enter category code BDGTREV and input a note why change in
housing status was denied (reason)
RRAAREQ: Update REVBUD from “N” to “X”.
where status code “N” description states “Received, Not Yet Reviewed”
where status code “X” description states “Budget Revision Not Approved”
Notify student via email of decision/reason for denial.

 Input properly calculated expense total * in the “Budget Component Amount” data
field.( note: counselors name will now appear in the User ID column parallel the
budget item)

*Note: Calculation will depend on when the information is received, the time period for which the expense is documented, and the
student’s stated timeline on the continued projected need.
Ex: parent living in household suffers stroke in October 10; home care required when student out of house beginning November
1(with no projected change to parent’s health). Student attends evenings, plans to be enrolled in spring. You would multiply the
weekly charge times number of weeks remaining fall term 11/01 on) plus the weeks in spring term for a total to input on RBAABUD.
