CDS Family Excursion to Auldbrass 2011

CDS Family Excursion to Auldbrass 2011
Grades 6-8
• One weekend every two years, Frank Lloyd Wright's 20th Century architectural
treasure, Auldbrass Plantation is opened for public visitation. The Beaufort County
Open Land Trust (BCOLT) is currently holding a group reservation slot and tickets
for the CDS group for Sunday, November 6.
• Because this very popular biennial event always sells out in advance, we must
purchase tickets ahead of time in order to hold our CDS group slot. In 2009 about
60 members of the CDS family made the trek to the Wright masterpiece near
Yemassee, SC (driving time: 1hr. 24 min. [64 miles])
• The tickets for the Auldbrass visit are priced at $85.00 for adults. Because of our
support of this event in recent years, the Beaufort County Open Land Trust has
made a special half-price offer for students in grades 6-8 at CDS. The student
tickets are priced at $42.50.
• Students, siblings, and friends younger than 6th grade are not allowed to tour the
Auldbrass buildings or grounds. Parents must sign a waiver for students in middle
school or high school.
• Please indicate below your family name and the number of Auldbrass tickets you
would like to purchase.
We, the ____________________ family would like ____ Auldbrass adult ($85)
ticket(s) and _____ Auldbrass student ($42.50) ticket(s).
Our total amount for adult and student tickets is $ __________.
• Please make checks out to Charleston Day School and return to Mr. Welborn
by Tuesday, September 6.
Sorry, but the Tomotely Plantation picnic lunch is SOLD OUT. Food and drink are not allowed in
the buildings or grounds of Auldbrass. The folks at the Beaufort County Open Land Trust suggest
that CDS families pack their own lunch, and picnic at nearby Old Sheldon Church Ruins (In past years
the Auldbrass BCOLT picnic has been held successfully on the scenic and historic grounds of Old
Sheldon Church).
