From Charlevoix, there is a ferry (roughly 2 hours @ $25 each way) or plane (roughly 25 minutes @ $43 each way) that travels to the island daily. If there is enough interest, the group can charter a plane from Traverse City, MI to Beaver Island. Traverse City is about an hour’s drive away from Charlevoix. If the group was interested, it would run about $185 per person round trip (for 6 passengers). For more information on the ferry from Charlevoix, visit Beaver Island Boat Company’s website at: http://www.beaverislandboatcompany.com/ For more information on flying in from Charlevoix, visit Island Airway’s website: http://www.islandairways.com/ By plane: Many airports fly into Traverse City, MI. From there, you would either need to charter a plane to the island, rent a car or coordinate with someone driving up to get to Charlevoix, MI. Most participants in the group will be driving. If that is the case and you would like to extend your trip on the front or back end of the trip, Michigan offers some amazing fisheries not far out of you way. If this interests you, let us know and the guys and Indigo Guide Service would be happy to talk to you about those opportunities. Media Recognition: Indigo Guide Service has been featured on In-Fisherman, Field & Stream, Eastern Fly Fishing, The Drake and more. You may have seen Kevin featured on an In-Fisherman TV on an episode dedicated to Beaver Island carp fishing. In December of 2011, Conway Bowman’s TV show, Fly Fishing The World will be airing an episode he shot last summer on the island. He had such a good time on Beaver Island; he is bringing his buddies back in 2012! Here is a link to an article written by Kevin Morlock that appeared in an issue of In-Fisherman: http://www.indigoguideservice.com/2011/04/27/michigan-carp-article-in-fisherman-kevin-morlock/ There has been quite a bit of online exposure as well, here are a few: Rough Fisher: http://www.roughfisher.com/2011/06/beaver-island-land-of-carp-flats.html The Fiberglass Manifesto: http://thefiberglassmanifesto.blogspot.com/2011/08/beaver-island-smallmouth-experience.html Field & Stream (photos from their Beaver Island experience): http://www.fieldandstream.com/blogs/flytalk/2011/07/slideshow-michigan-flats-fishing Join Us! This trip will be a lot of fun. We have prime time dates reserved and days are booking quickly with Kevin and Steve(especially when the Conway Bowman TV show airs). The island is also a cool destination even without the fishing, with a rich history, charming character and fun community and night life. While smallmouth season will be closed, not catching them is impossible since they inhabit the same areas as the carp. Without trying you will likely catch several nice smallies (5-6 pounders are common!). If you have any questions, or would like to reserve a spot, contact Evan Muskopf via email at [email protected] or call Feather-Craft and ask for Evan (1-800-659-1707).
