What To Really Look For When
Buying A Home
If you do enough research online about buying a home, then you may develop a checklist that you think is complete. Your list
includes checking on the roof, furnace, water heater and central air conditioning to make sure they are all in good, working
order. But there are details that every home buyer should look for before making the final decision that do not always show up
on the most popular checklists. You should add these items to your checklist to make sure that you are getting the best possible deal.
Ask For Roof And Furnace Receipts
If a homeowner really did have their roof and furnace replaced or overhauled prior to putting their house on the market, then
they will have the contractor receipts to prove it. Be wary of home sellers who insist that they did the work themselves or cannot provide receipts. Just because the seller says that the furnace is only six months old does not necessarily mean that it is
true.
If the home seller cannot furnish receipts, then bring a professional contractor with you to confirm that the work was done as
advertised. Your home is one of the single largest investments you will ever make. It makes sense to insist on proof that you
are getting what you pay for.
Move Rugs And Pictures
It is more of an annoyance than anything else, but sometimes home sellers will use rugs and hanging pictures to cover issues
with the walls and floors. Unless you intend on continuing the use of rugs and hanging pictures in those spots, then you will
need to check behind the pictures and under the rugs to see what is really there. -continued on page 4

Retirement Blunder #10
Have you procrastinated when it comes to
planning your retirement?
In my experience, the biggest mistake you could possibly make is thinking that a
savings account and a pension plan will get you through retirement, or thinking
that because you signed up for a 401(k) years ago, you’re all set. Many people
retire without planning, only to learn years later that their money is running out!
How to avoid this mistake …
Start planning for retirement NOW! Whether you’re five years away from
retirement, or you’ve already retired … it’s never too soon, or too late, to create a
plan. And there is no better way to see that you keep what you have and don’t
outlive your income.
If you have any questions, or if you’d like to speak with me about your retirement,
please feel free to call me any time at 775.225.9588. If your retirement date or
financial situation changes, would you please contact me via e-mail at
[email protected] and let me know?

Is Zero Percent Financing
Really Your Best Deal?
Undoubtedly you’ve heard about the “zero percent financing” offers that many auto
manufacturers have been promoting lately. Although they seem to be incredible deals
and are certainly enticing, you should read the fine print and know the facts before you
head to your local dealer.
Beware of Those Teaser Rates
Be sure to look for the
CUDL logo when shopping
at the dealerships.
Teaser rates have always been offered to drive more business to the dealerships but,
all too often, these offers are not beneficial to the buyer. Knowing what to look for, and
what questions to ask the dealer, will help you decide if zero percent is the best deal
for you. Here are a few of the facts and restrictions that may apply:

Research Your Options
By using Frontier Financial Credit Union’s low percentage rate you are qualified to use
any rebates offered by the manufacturers— which means, this could be your best deal!
With the rebate, you are reducing the amount that you are financing even further.
Therefore, in combination with the credit union’s low rate, your overall costs are lower
than if you opted for the special factory financing.

hole and painting all of the walls in the room so they match. You will want to take that
into consideration when submitting your offer.

When you are house hunting, you need to take every detail into account to make sure
that you are not overpaying for your next home. There are plenty of big items to look for
during your personal inspection of a house for sale, but the details are what will determine the true value of the home.
