Rhyme Time - Mytchett Primary School

Voluntary Contributions
Please consider paying the voluntary contribution of £5.00 a term or £15.00
a year for each child. We are extremely grateful for these contributions as
this budget allows us to carry out extra activities with the children. Huge
thanks for this.
Front Gate
Please can I remind you to always shut the two latches on the front gate
behind you when you enter and leave the Nursery grounds. It is essential in
ensuring the children are safe at all times. The gate is locked at 9am so the
children can safely access the outdoor area shortly after 9am.
Helpers
We welcome parent helpers both in the classroom and throughout the
school. If you are able to spare any time to help, please let us know so that
we can make the best use of your time! However, if you are unable to
volunteer in the classroom but would still like to help we’re always looking for
willing people to take our aprons home to wash each half term!
Snack Bar
As most of you are aware, we operate a snack bar in Nursery which children
can help themselves to, across the morning. Please remember to register
your child with Cool Milk so they can receive their free entitlement to a carton
of milk each day. We also ask for donations of food to supplement your
child’s free piece of fruit. Previous parents have brought donations of fruit,
vegetables, rice cakes, bread sticks, cereal and raisins etc. All donations
are gratefully received so we can tempt your child each day.
Proud Clouds
When the children are settled we will be introducing ‘Proud clouds’. These
are for you to fill in about your child. If there is anything you are proud of that
your child has done or achieved, please write it down on the cloud then sign
it, date it and place it next to your child’s photo on the ‘Proud Cloud’ board.
We will share and congratulate your child with the other children in Ducklings
Class. (More information to follow at Nursery Information Meeting.)
Going Home Book
If your child is going home with a friend or person other than yourself or your
child’s usual child-minder, please could you write in the book the name of the
person who is collecting your child and the date. (This book will be found
outside of nursery on a table every morning.)

Dear Parents,
We hope you have had an enjoyable holiday and look forward to working
with you during this first half term of the academic year. As always, if you
have any concerns or worries at any time, please do not hesitate to come
and see me.
Topic
The main topic for this half term is ‘Nursery Rhymes’. We will be spending
the sessions getting to know our new friends and enjoying all the fun Nursery
has to offer! Each week our activities in the seven areas of learning will
continue to be based around a book/rhyme of the week which I will notify you
of via the parent’s board in the cloakroom. Our role-play areas this half term
may include a home corner and shop.
Letters and Sounds
We will be following the Letters and Sounds scheme to help children begin to
distinguish between sounds. We play a variety of fun multisensory games
with the children which encourage them to listen and explore different
sounds. If you would like to know more please feel free to come and see
me.
Clothing – all clearly named please
To help the children become more independent we kindly ask that all
children have a spare set of clothes left on their peg. We will use these
clothes if your child has an accident or has had lots of fun exploring in the
garden! If the weather forecast is for a hot day please could you send in a
named sunhat for your child to wear. You will need to apply suncream prior
to the Nursery day. Please do not send your child in sunglasses (unless
there is a medical reason) and open toed sandals. Thanks for your continued
help with this.
