awards ceremony held yesterday in Taipei, Taiwan.
"It is with a combination of pride, joy and immense humility that I accept the prestigious Tang
Prize in the Rule of Law,´ said Madam Arbour. ³As we promote the advancement of the Rule
of Law, we should not settle for a world simply ruled by laws. The Rule of Law is not blind to
the content of the laws."
During Tang Prize Week, Madam Arbour offered a lecture promoting the Rule of Law,
explaining its narrow understanding, exploring rules-based as well as rule of law-based
international order, and engaging in conversation on how best to advance a modern concept
of the Rule of Law for the greater good.
