MAY 2013
May 15th- 19th
Veterans are celebrated every day in Branson and
that’s the way it should be. Armed Forces Day is on
May 18th and this is an honorable celebration. I’ll
have all the details in the next newsletter. God Bless
our Veterans and all of those who serve and defend
our fine country. THANK YOU.
JUNE/JULY 2013
ADVENTURES OF
ALASKA
June 22nd-July 1st
We’ll sail for 7 days and spend 4 on land. Ports of
call include Ketchikan, Junea and Skagway. I’ll have
more information on this in the next newsletter.
Hello everyone, I don’t know about you, but I’m thrilled to have a little
cooler weather. Although, some of us missed a few days of that
unbearable heat while we were sailing on our Alaskan Adventure. We
celebrated the 4th of July with a parade and 55 degrees in Skagway. They
host the largest egg toss, which happens to be in the Guinness Book of
World Records. This was my first time in Alaska and I must say it was
ABSOLUTELY beautiful. We saw moose, caribou, dall sheep; and there was a bear right outside our restaurant.
Apparently he was hungry for my crab legs, and I wasn’t about to share! The helicopter ride onto a glacier
was great fun, but the highlight of the trip was fly fishing. We took a float plane to the middle of nowhere
and went fishing in the stream. Our guide Jesse was more than patient with this girl. Poor fellow, probably
wanted to toss me right in the stream! Surprisingly, I didn’t snag anyone with my casting skills, and I did
catch a couple dolly trout. Believe me, everyone heard a little hooting and hollering. We’ll be going to
Alaska again next summer and I’d like to take all of you along. It’s a must see and do for everyone.
With fall comes the bountiful harvest. This is my mother’s recipe for apple bread. She’s an excellent cook
and raised three big kids. Enjoy….
Apple Bread
½ cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1½ tablespoons sour milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
Grafton Street and Phoenix Park. No Ireland trip
would be complete without a stop at Waterford
Crystal in Kilkenny. For good luck we’ll kiss the
Blarney Stone in Killarney on the grounds of the
Blarney Castle. Day 6 will take us to the most
beautiful coastal routes in the world, The Ring of
Kerry. In Limerick we’ll experience the customs and
the daily life of a traditional Irish family during our
visit to the Molanna dairy farm. Day 8 is truly
spectacular with views from the cliffs of Moher. This
is a 700 foot high cliff with views of the Atlantic and
the Aran Islands. The last 5 days are spent in
Northern Ireland which is not common on most tours.
On our last night, we’ll toast the end of a fabulous
trip during our farewell dinner at Cabra Castle. Stop
by both banks for a colorful itinerary and more
details. Remember the travel show is October 9th.
