program will be held at
North Middle School from
July 2 through August 13.
F i f t h , s i x t h , s e v e n t h or
eighth grade students residing in Union Free School
District No. 20 wiH be
admitted to this voluntary
p r o g r a m in m a t h e m a t i c s
and reading. This program
has as its primary goal the
development of positive attitudes toward school by helping children master the basic
skills necessary to experience success during the
next school year. A team of
t'^^^rhers, assisted by teacher
aids, wil determine individual instruction programs
based upon the results of
standardized t e s t i n g . T h e
Geris television video
method of reading improvement and computer-assisted
instruction in mathematics
are part of the course of
study. According to James
F. Newman, Summer Middle School Principal, this
program is of great value to
those children who are not
working up to grade level or
to their individual capabilities.
