State Fair Meadowlands Serves Up Happiness Fairgoers can find almost any of their favorites at the fair, such as nachos, chicken wings, turkey legs, deep-fried veggies, kielbasa, zeppoles, Stromboli or the tasty and tender “pig butt on a stick.” Feeling daring? How about a donut burger, shark kebab or foot-long bacon corn dog? East Rutherford, NJ – May 6, 2015 – Hungry anyone? If the warmer temperatures outside are getting you in the mood for yummy summer food, look no further than State Fair Meadowlands. This year the fair will have over 50 food vendors, offering endless treats to delight both kids and adults. Fairgoers can sample a mix of savory favorites such as real Philly cheesesteaks, gyros, pizza, corn on the cob and much more, as well as sweet indulgences such as deep-friend Pop Tarts, ice cream sundaes with fresh strawberries and cotton candy. The fair, which is located at the State Fair Meadowlands Fairgrounds, next to MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, kicks off on June 19 and runs through July 5, with over 150 rides and attractions. “This year, we’re thrilled to have all of our favorite food vendors back at the fairgrounds – from Chester’s Gators and Taters to Jersey Johnnies, Spaghetti Eddies, Wild Bill, and the famous Brian Shenkman, who will deep fry anything you please,” said Al Dorso, president of State Fair Meadowlands. “Fairgoers looking for a zany, tasty meal can check out Chester’s macaroni and cheese with gator meat, Ziggy’s giant mozzarella on a stick, or Brian Shenkman’s deep-fried cream cheese with larvets (that’s crunchy worm larvae for the uninitiated).” Fairgoers can find almost any of their favorite foods at the fair, including nachos, chicken wings, turkey legs, deep-fried veggies, kielbasa, zeppoles, Stromboli or the tasty and tender “pig butt on a stick.” Feeling daring? The Travelling Nuts booth, a snacking favorite, will offer a variety of nuts with crazy flavors such as blueberry, cheesecake and wasabi, or just lightly salted. Kids will want to check out the Bulk Candy Store, an old-fashioned candy-by-the-pound tent that even has Kosher-certified candy. Ice cream fans will love The Ice Cream Mill, a traditional ice creamery, with its famous peanut butter and jelly sundae – vanilla ice cream, homemade peanut butter and grape jelly sauce, topped with whipped cream and a Nutter Butter cookie. To cool down, fairgoers can try out fruit smoothies, root beer floats, old fashioned soda and homemade lemonade. In addition to a fusion of favorite “fair fare,” this year, State Fair Meadowlands will also have extensive entertainment that is FREE with entry ticket. The lineup includes an all-new, spectacular Lipizzaner Stallions & Horses of the World Show; the Great American Thrill Show, an open-air performance of daredevil acrobats and aerialists; the adorable Racing Pigs, back by popular demand for their 27th year; and several live concerts throughout the 17-day fair. Fairgoers can also check out the educational Petting Zoo, and Master Hypnotist Steve Bayner, a long-time favorite who will perform his hilarious act on the Main Stage. Celebrate New Jersey pride at the NJ Hall of Fame Mobile Museum, which contains educational exhibits about famous New Jerseyans. Fans of the Lizard Lick Towing reality show can meet Ron, Amy, Krazy Earl, Cousin Johnny and Big Juicy. The gang will hold a meet and greet from June 24-28 – times are listed at www.njfair.com. Aside from entertainment, State Fair Meadowlands also features over 50 white-knuckle rides and the largest Kiddieland ride area in New Jersey. A family favorite, the Sky Ride, is back this year, providing sky-high views of the fair, from one end of the midway to the other, with fabulous views of New York City. For Batman fans, the Batcopter will be back, providing rides with panoramic views of the fair in the original helicopter from the 1966 TV series. State Fair Meadowlands occupies over 35 acres of fairgrounds plus parking. Fair hours are Monday through Thursday, 6 pm to midnight; Fridays 6 pm to 1 am; Saturdays 2 pm to 1 am; Sundays 2 pm to midnight. On opening Dollar Night, June 19, the fair is open 4 pm to 1 am. On Friday, July 3, the fair is open 2 pm to 1 am; on Saturday, July 4 from 2 pm to 1 am. Parking is free Monday through Wednesday, and $5 Thursdays through Sundays. Opening night, parking is just $2.
