Theme: Celebrate Family and Friends Book title: STICK MAN By Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler Make your own Stick Man You will need: • A stick • Pencils, textas etc • Scissors • Glue, tape Adult supervision is essential. Involve and talk with your child as much as possible. • Ribbons, crepe paper or wool (optional) • Templates (optional). Instructions: 1. Colour in template (if using) 2. Stick the template onto your stick (if using) 3. Wrap some ribbon/crepe paper or wool around your stick to decorate it (if using) 4. Decorate your Stick Man 5. Take your Stick Man outside for an adventure in your garden or park. Ideas: Find some other sticks and make the Stick family. Can you make them a Stick pet/s? Is there somewhere in your garden or local park where the Stick family can live? Stick Man experiences all the different seasons. Talk about the weather and the changes in nature that we see. Use playdough to make some of the other items from the story (Snowman, Sandcastle, a Birds nest) and use some sticks to decorate or help make these. Key Message: Children learn through being engaged and doing.
