Learn about the nesting habits of this federally threatened species. Perhaps you will be lucky enough to spot a few with our Coastal Waterbird Biologist, Megan Nepshinsky! Join Mass Audubon’s southeast regional conservation scientist as he explores how salt marshes are formed as well as the unique flora and fauna of our own Duxbury Beach tidal flat. Come discover the micro fauna of the marsh flats with Sara Grady from the Massachusetts Bays Program and the North and South River Watershed Association. Learn a variety of new techniques in this photographic learning opportunity for all levels of photographers. Thursday, August 7—Watercolor on the Beach with Linda Bornstein. Learn watercolor techniques to capture the beauty of the beach in this painting workshop with instructor Linda Bornstein. Tuesday, August 12—Beach Glass: Treasures of the Sea with Judy Mqcioci. Each beautiful piece of beach glass tells a story. By studying the color and patterns of each shard we can trace its journey, discover where it came from and how it washed up on our New England coast. Thursday, August 14—Terns with Megan Nepshinsky. Learn about the nesting habitats of these shorebirds and how they are monitored and protected with Coastal Waterbird Biologist Megan Nepshinsky. Saturday, August 16—FAMILY FUN ON THE BEACH: Treasure Hunt with John Tinker. Learn how to read and follow a treasure map and basic compass techniques and embark on a fun and interactive treasure hunt with Teacher Naturalist John Tinker. Tuesday, August 19—Something Fishy in Duxbury Bay with Judy Rembisz. Ocean sunfish, striped bass, and sand-tigers! With 20 years of experience interviewing recreational anglers for a study, Judy will share fun facts such as: how to determine a fish’s age and why some fish swallow rocks.
