Photo. £80-£100 May 1st 1844 was the first day of use of the 1844-type numerals 642 ▲ Number 10: 1841 1d. plate 36 AH with large margins on two sides, cut into elsewhere, tied by a very fine strike of the number “10” in Maltese Cross to large part 1843 (July 11th) cover to Edinburgh, the cross is struck at the foot of the stamp and the Edinburgh post office evidently did not think the stamp was properly cancelled and applied their own cross (R & J type 5), filing fold crosses stamp but barely detracts, a most unusual item. QH with centrally struck virtually complete black Maltese Cross and tied by clear light “530” numeral, this cover illustrated on page 92 of Danzig and Goldsmith, and 1846 (March) large part cover to Liverpool with “LINDAL-IN-CARTMEL” u.d.c. on reverse, bearing ample to huge margined 1841 1d.
