GPS scavenger hunt for pupils
Explore the city during an interactive smartphone scavenger hunt. In teams of 4 to 5 pupils you will
solve quests, riddles and challenges across the city. The game takes about two hours and you will
see the sights and learn about the history, daily life and peculiarities of the city. The teams will follow
the instructions of the app to find the spots, get a lot of exiting information and solve the tasks. As
you can see the team scores live an exiting competition arises. During the whole game support via
telephone and chat is available. The teacher can always follow the actual position of the players
online.

Guided Tour through the Cathedral
A tour through the interior of the Cologne Cathedral, the landmark of the Rhine metropolis. Built
from 1248 until 1880, it’s a masterpiece of gothic architecture and one of the most prominent
cathedrals worldwide. Over the entire building period, the original construction plans remained
unchanged. In 1996, the Cathedral entered the list of UNESCO world heritage sites. Highlights of the
Cathedral include the alter of the Poor Clares from the 14th century and the first Grand Cross of the
Western world, the Gero Cross.

Guided Tour: Cathedral Treasury
Since Fall 2000, one can access the enlarged historical basement vault on the north side of this
cathedral and admire the church treasure. Spread out over 500 sqm, you’ll discover precious
reliquaries, liturgical equipment and garments, insignia of archbishops, medieval sculptures and
Franconian grave finds. Among the most prominent pieces are the staff and manacles of St. Peter as
well as the baroque shrine of the holy Engelbert from 1663.

of expressionists (Schmidt-Rottluff, Kirchner), modern classics (Chagall, Dix) as well as the Russian

NS-Dokumentationszentrum der Stadt Köln
In the EL-DE-Haus, the former headquarters and prison of the Gestapo, the permanent exhibition
„Köln im Nationalsozialismus" is underway. Founded in 1988, this NS documentation center offers
age appropriate tours that explain the history of the former region’s capital with practical examples.
