Calvin Christian School Courier th 547 West 5 St. Hamilton, ON L9C 3P7 905-388-2645 www.ccshamilton.ca [email protected] Thursday, M arch 9, 2017 Volume 21.26 From the desk of Mr Postma ! We extend our congratulations to Mrs. Deb Van Egmond, our current special education coordinator for her appointment as one of the vice principals of CCS. Mrs. Van Egmond will be taking on much of Mr. Boonstra's vice principal duties and will share the vice principal role with Mr. Hosmar. Her main responsibility will involve curriculum work but more details will be announced later. In her role as special education coordinator, she became familiar with the school's curriculum and has provided much worthwhile input concerning what is to be taught, how it should be taught and how learning is assessed. She is a natural fit for this vice principal position. Mrs. Van Egamond will continue as special education coordinator with some of her assignments being shifted to other personnel. We wish her God's blessings and much fulfillment as she assumes her new duties. ! A year ago yesterday, on March 8/16, Ryan Martz passed away. Ryan was Devon’s (gr. 7) younger brother. He was 7 years old. Ryan brought joy into the lives of his family members and may those memories also sustain them today. Devon was his big brother in many ways. Ryan loved his brother; he was his hero. We pray that the Lord will continue to comfort the family and strengthen them. !The CCS BOD has established an adhoc committee to begin the process of coming up with nominations for new board members. You are invited to forward names to the secretary of the BOD. A final list of nominees will be voted on at the spring membership meeting. Grade 1: Today we had the opportunity to visit the Hamilton Farmer's Market! We are so blessed to be able to enjoy colourful, delicious, and healthy food. It was fun to shop for food from each of the four food groups and to enjoy a "feast" once we returned to the school. Thanks to our many chaperones who accompanied us and who helped prepare the food for us: Mr. and Mrs. Ledin, Mr. Mafa, Mr. Kikkert, Mrs. van der Heiden, Mrs. Paul, Mrs. Kemper, Mrs. D'Angelo,
