AMAZING RACE Little Pink Edition INFORMATION PACKAGE Do you like to have FUN? Are you COMPETITIVE? Are you a fan of reality television’s The Amazing Race? This is your chance to live your dream of taking part in an Amazing Race while supporting a worthwhile cause! Little Pink Houses of Hope invites you, your colleagues, family and friends to be a part of our 1st ever Amazing Race, a fundraising venture supporting Breast Cancer survivor programming. This unique event, inspired by reality television’s The Amazing Race, will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2014 from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Each team will receive a clue at the beginning of the race, which starts them on an exciting and fun adventure. Each clue solved brings them to a location that will move the team forward to the location of the next clue, and so on, as the teams travel around Alamance County accomplishing various tasks and challenges, racing against the clock and each other. The team that completes the course with the best time wins! Penalty and time credits will be awarded throughout the race so anything can happen! Prizes will be awarded to the Top Fundraisers and Race Winners! Fundraising Teams are encouraged to raise additional funds for race day incentives. Teams can set up fundraising page by visiting www.littlepink.org/amazingrace. Race Fundraising Incentives: $250 raised = 1 Speed Pass $563 raised = 2 Speed Passes $1,000 raised = 3 Speed Passes Speed passes can be used at any of the Challenges along the race course. Speed passes are designed to give a distinct advantage to the team when played and limit the difficulty or amount of time per challenge. Top 3 Fundraising Teams will get a 3 MINUTE HEAD START for the race and will be acknowledged for their fundraising efforts. $60 Registration fee per team $75 Late Registration fee after April 15th ABOUT THE RACE 1. How does it work? Teams of 2 will race around Alamance County from checkpoint to checkpoint and the team that completes the course in the least amount of time wins the prize for the fastest team. Prior to the race, each team will receive a race package that will advise them of the starting point. On the day of the race, teams will be given a clue that will direct them where to go to reach the first checkpoint. At the checkpoint, you will complete a challenge or search for an answer to a question. Once you have successfully completed the challenge, the checkpoint attendant will give you your next clue. 2. How do I get around? You can run or walk during the course as fast or as slow as you like. You will need a vehicle to get around town during the race. The course is designed to take you to different parts of Alamance County that you may or may not be familiar with. Teams are encouraged to have cell phones to help them with locations. 3. How do I sign up? The easiest way to register is online at www.littlepink.org/amazingrace or complete the attached registration form and drop it off at Little Pink Houses of Hope located at 2375 Corporation Parkway or email it to us at [email protected] . Please include all of your team’s information on the form. The maximum number of teams that will be accepted is 100 – so early registration is recommended to avoid disappointment! 4. What if I don’t have a team of 2? If you don't have a team of two we will try to include you with any other partial teams that express interest but in order to participate it must be a team of two. 5. What is the After Party? After you finish the race, we'll meet at the final checkpoint to recuperate with refreshments and a meal, to exchange stories of what happened while racing, and to hand out prizes. Prizes will be given to the race winners and to the team that raised the highest donation amount.
