Teens
TRL: Teen Reading Lounge
Teens ages 12-18 can join this free,
interactive book club. We will meet the last
Tuesday of each month at 6:00pm to discuss
our selection and take part in interactive
workshops based on the selection. Sessions
are approximately 2 hours.
Our next meeting is March 31 at 6pm!
We are reading Midwinterblood by Marcus
Sedgwick.
Seven stories of passion and love separated by
centuries but mysteriously intertwined-this is a tale
of horror and beauty, tenderness and sacrifice.
An archaeologist who unearths a mysterious
artifact, an airman who finds himself far from
home, a painter, a ghost, a vampire, and a Viking:
the seven stories in this compelling novel all take
place on the remote Scandinavian island of
Blessed where a curiously powerful plant that
resembles a dragon grows. What binds these stories together? What
secrets lurk beneath the surface of this idyllic countryside? And what
might be powerful enough to break the cycle of midwinterblood? From
award-winning author Marcus Sedgwick comes a book about passion
and preservation and ultimately an exploration of the bounds of love.
TRL Goes to The Movies!
On March 22, the teens involved in TRL are
going to see Insurgent at Cinemark in
Moosic, PA. A permission slip must be
returned to the library by 5:00pm on Friday,
March 20 to get a free ticket. Parents will
be responsible for transporting their teen to
and from the movie theater. Tickets are free
for teens participating in the Teen Reading
Lounge at the Marian Sutherland Kirby
Library. Call the library for additional
information.
Teen Reading Lounge is a program of the Pennsylvania Humanities
Council, and funded by federal Library Services and Technology Act
