DAY 2 – BERLIN Arrive in Berlin and after completing passport control obligations, you will be met by a Homeric Tours representative and transferred to the hotel in this metropolis of Central Europe. After check-in, you will be met by your local guide for an orientation city tour that includes the main monuments of interest such as the Reichstag, the Berlin Wall, Checkpoint Charlie, the Brandenburg Gate and many more famous monuments. Welcome dinner and overnight accommodations at your hotel in Berlin. (D) DAY 3 – BERLIN – WITTENBERG Free time this morning after breakfast to visit the old city or shop at your own Berlin Eisleben Eisennach Wittenberg Erfurt GERMANY Munich 26 8˚ pace. After lunch on your own, motorcoach to Wittenberg, also called Luther's town. Here he taught philosophy at the university and was the town preacher. It was also in this city that he posted his famous 95 Articles condemning the abuses practiced by the church on the door of Castle Church. The church has been rebuilt since that time but the doors are still the original ones. Luther's tomb is also located in this church. Also visit Luther's house and the Reformation Museum. If time permits, visit Melanchton's House. This was the residence of Luther's companion, who was the more tolerant of the two, trying to reconcile the different factions of the Reformation. Transfer to your hotel for dinner and overnight. (B,D) DAY 4 – WITTENBERG – EISLEBEN – ERFUT After breakfast, drive to Eisleben to see the houses where Luther was born and died. A highlight today will be a visit to the restored Augustinian Monastery, which was built in 1277 and where Martin Luther lived and worked as a monk in the early 1500’s. Travel to Erfurt and your hotel for dinner and overnight. (B,D) DAY 5 – ERFUT – EISENRACH – ERFUT Breakfast at the hotel is followed by an excursion to Weimar and visits to Goethe's House and the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul, where Luther was christened and the famous Cranach Triptych can be seen representing the DAY 6 – ERFUT – LAUF AN DER PEGNITZ – MUNICH After breakfast at the hotel, travel to Lauf an der Pegnitz, with parts of the old medieval city wall and defensive towers still standing, typical decorative Frankish Fachwerkhouses and protected historical square, church and town-hall all adding an aura of romance and beauty to this town. Continue on to the Bavarian capital of Munich and check-in to your hotel fro dinner and overnight. (B,D) DAY 7 – MUNICH Breakfast at the hotel and then drive through the fairy tale land of Bavaria and its stunning landscape of mirrored lakes and majestic Alps as you head to Neuschwanstein Castle. This famous castle was the creation of the Mad King Ludwig and the inspiration for Walt Disney’s ‘Cinderrella’s Castle’. From here, drive to Oberammergau to see the Passion Play Theater, where every ten years the famous Passion Play is held in this quaint village. Return to Munich for dinner and overnight. (B,D) DAY 8 – MUNICH After breakfast, meet your local guide for a half-day city tour to see the Olympic Sites, the Marienplatz, the Glockenspiel, the Opera and Nymphenburg Palace. The afternoon is free for a suggested museum visit or shopping. Then back to the hotel to freshen-up for a farewell dinner in the Hofbrauhaus, a local beer-garden before returning to the hotel for your overnight.
