Incomplete Vehicle DEF Fill Hose Kit Installation
Models Affected:
2017 and later F-250/350 Box Removal and Box Delete vehicles with 6.7L diesel engine,
F350/450/550 Chassis Cab with 6.7L diesel engine.
Description:
2017 Model Year F-250/350 Box Delete and F350/450/550 Chassis Cab vehicles with 6.7L
diesel engine include a DEF tank hose fill kit to facilitate relocating the DEF fill neck to a
Second Unit Body. This kit includes 80 inches of fill hose, 80 inches of vent hose, and a fill
cup (See Figure 1).
When relocating the DEF fill neck on a Second Unit Body, upfitters are advised to remove
the existing filler hose assembly (Figure 2) from DEF tank, remove the factory hose
connections from the hose (Figure 3), and insert these connections onto the provided hose
(Figure 4).
The installation of these connections to the hoses, particularly the fill hose to the DEF fill
neck, may be difficult. It is recommended to use a 50%/50% alcohol/water solution or a
lubricant like Wedolit N53 (Wilhelm Dietz Co.) be applied to fittings to help ease installation.
.
Note: For completed F250/350 6.7L diesel pickups having the box removed for a second
unit body installation, the DEF tank fill hose kit can be ordered from a Ford Service parts
department. The service part number is:
HC3Z-5K289-A
