73 or 55 Mile Loop
Ride Summary
Meander through the Mt. Hood National Forest for 73 or 55 miles on quiet, low traffic roads.
Both the 73 and 55 mile rides begin with a major climb up to the High Rock View Point,
where riders will be rewarded with spectacular views of the Mt. Hood National Forest. Follow
Forest Road (FR) 58 east from High Rock to Timothy Lake. At the east end of Timothy Lake,
choose your distance: if you like 55 miles, turn right on FR 57. If you still have legs after the
High Rock climb head south on FR 42 for the 73 mile loop. Gravel roadway on FR 57 from
Timothy Lake to FR 58. Start/End Point: Ripplebrook Ranger Station: 61451 Hwy. 224
(approx. 26 miles southeast of Estacada on Hwy. 224). For advanced and experienced cyclists.
Elevation Gain: 5,500 feet.

2.Lake Harriet:
PGE reservoir stocked with trout is great spot
for fishing, boating and camping with an
ADA-accessible dock facility.
3.Little Crater Lake:
Small and narrow but deep spring-fed crystal-clear
blue lake is very scenic, near campground.
4.Clackamas Lake Historic Ranger Station:
Includes the historic Ranger’s Cabin built in 1933 by
the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), individuals
and groups can rent the cabin for overnights stays.
5.Pacific Crest Trail:
The jewel in the crown of America’s scenic trails,
spanning 2,650 miles from Mexico to Canada.
6.Timothy Lake:
One of the larger Cascade Lakes nestled into the
Mt. Hood National Forest with fishing, hiking and
a beautiful place to camp.
