FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S OFFICE
Dear Parents & Friends of the School
Going around the classrooms you can see a great school in action. The
teachers working with their classes, small groups or individuals, and the
students on task and focused. There is a continual air of commitment which
is reflected in the progress being made.
One room I always enjoy visiting is the Reading Room where Mrs Donaldson
and Mrs Beamiss, together with a dedicated band of parents, work with
those children who need a boost in reading. It is a warm and inviting room
and the children concerned can see for themselves the progress they are
making in their reading. The joy they all share in each child’s success is
wonderful to see.

FROM THE OFFICE . . .
PHONE CALLS
From Monday, 18th May, the office will be charging
students to make phone calls from the school phone.
We have a large number of students using the phone
and we can no longer carry these costs.
The charges will be 20c for a land line call and $1.00
for a cell phone call. (Obviously your child will not be
charged if it is an emergency).
Please help your children reduce the need to use
the phone - organise after school activities, pick up
arrangements, homework, etc all in the morning before
they leave for school.
SANITARY PADS
Unfortunately we will also need to start charging for
sanitary pads given out at the office. We do have a small
supply for emergencies but again this is a cost we can
no longer carry. From Monday, these will be charged at
50c each.
BORROWING MONEY
There are a number of students who are either not
bringing their bus money or are losing it at school. The
Office will not be lending money to children without
consent from parents. Please make sure that your child
has sufficient money in the morning. This money can be
given to their class teacher for safe keeping during the
day if children are worried about losing it.
SCHOLASTIC BOOK ORDERS
A reminder that all book orders and money need to
be returned to the school office by tomorrow (Friday,
15th May).
PARENT/TEACHER MEETINGS
It was good to see the number of parents who came to
discuss their child’s progress with the class teachers last
week. Spreading it over two evenings appeared to help
some more families to come along.
These meetings are very important as your child will
only get the most out of his/her schooling when home
and school work closely together.
If you have any suggestions about the best times
and days for these meetings, please would you let Mr
Crickmer know. We do realise that many of you work
shift hours and we want to find the times that suit you
to meet with us.
