1. Apply phonics knowledge to create words. Make as many words

Choose your homework from the menu below. The chilli rating suggests the difficulty or challenge
the homework may offer. Every half term you should attempt at least one ‘flaming hot’ task! The
first sentence of each task (written in black) is the WALT, which should be written with the date at
the top of each piece of homework.
1. Apply phonics knowledge to create words.
Make as many words as possible from the phrase “scavengers and settlers” e.g. sat,
van, late, letters.
2. Create your own prehistoric cave painting.
Research on google images ‘prehistoric cave paintings’. Create your own using a
medium of your choice (e.g. pencils, watercolours, paint, pastels).
3. Create an informative poster explaining your knowledge of odd and even numbers.
Make a poster showing your knowledge of odd and even numbers. You should try to
explain what is different about them and how you would know if a number is odd or
even. Make your poster colourful and bold.
4. Review a book.
Write a review of a book you have recently read. It should include a summary of events
in the story, your favourite part, who would enjoy the book and what you would change
about the book if you could.
5. Create a quiz.
Write at least 8 questions and answers to show your knowledge on all or any of the
Prehistoric Era’s (Stone/Iron/Bronze Age). You could make a crossword, multiple choice
quiz cards or any other type of quiz of your choosing.
6. Write your own poem.
Write a poem about The Stone Age. Your poem does not have to rhyme.
7. Write a diary entry.
Pretend you are a Prehistoric Man/Woman. Write your diary entry on a typical day:
What you do daily, where you live, how you stay warm, what food you eat and how you
prepare it. Remember to include your thoughts and feelings along with what you do.
8. Create an informative leaflet explaining the personal goals.
Make a leaflet which explains what each of the personal goals means and how you
could work towards achieving them. You can include pictures or examples if you wish.
The personal goals are resilience, principles, enquiry, communication, adaptability,
respect, thoughtfulness and communication.
9. Research a period of time.
Challenge yourself to find and display information on the different cultures during
either the Iron Age or the Bronze Age. You could focus on one or more different
aspects of each culture (e.g. arts and crafts, religion, buildings / settlements, clothing,
farming, types of materials for tools and weapons, etc.) Display information clearly
and neatly.
10. Write the journey of a stone.
Starting at the stones origin at the mountain top, describe its journey down to the
river and then into the sea. This should be written as a story where eventually you
pick up the pebble and it ends up in your pocket.
