1. The War of 1812
• Trade with England was interrupted
because of the War of 1812 when
England blockaded our ports and
Americans were forced to produce
their own goods.
• As a result, the nation became part of
the Industrial Revolution as factories
and machinery replaced earlier
methods of producing goods.

decrease in the demand for
slaves.
9. Free Blacks Face
Discrimination in the South
• Could not assemble together
• Could not obtain a formal education
• Required to carry papers at all times
proving they were free
• Many states required them to leave
the state because their presence
encouraged slave rebellions.
10. Nat Turner’s Rebellion

separated.
