Riders of the Week April 17, 2014 “Preparing Students for Their Future” FL Moffett: Ayden Eaves and Fernanda Almaguer Ayden Eaves is in Mrs. Rowlett's Kindergarten class. The Dinosaur Movie and dinosaur books are his favorite. His teacher, Mrs. Rowlett is Ayden's role model, because she is a nice teacher. He really wants to be famous for being a fire fighter and helping people by putting out fires. He enjoys playing with friends and playing Ninjas for fun. Ayden was chosen as FL Moffett's Rider of the Week because he is a caring student that shows enthusiasm for learning. He is a great helper and a great listener, too. Ayden is kind to others and a good friend. He displays the great qualities of a Roughrider! Fernanda Almaguer is in Mrs. Fitgerald's Kindergarten class. The Three Bears is her favorite book to read, and Rio is her favorite movie to watch. Fernanda's role model is Coach Suell, because he is a good teacher and she likes to go to his class. She wants to be a teacher when she grows up, because she likes school. Fernanda likes to do papers and write on the white board. Just for fun, she likes to read and go outside to play at recess. She also enjoys playing basketball at her Aunt’s house with her cousin. Fernanda always has a smile on her face and is willing to help teachers and friends with anything that is needed. She is a very hard worker, and she desires to do her best at all times. Fernanda brings joy to the classroom, and she is a great role model for the campus. This is what makes Fernanda one of FL Moffett's Riders of the Week! Center Elementary: Adrian Gonzalez and Dianna Camacho Adrian Gonzalez is in Ms. Dillard's Second Grade class. His favorite movie is Rio because it is funny, and he loves to laugh. His Dad is his role model, because he taught Adrian how to ride a scooter, how to play tennis, and he is always nice to others. Adrian really wants to be a famous soccer player so he can be seen on TV. He loves to play Hide-N-Seek with his brother and sister when he gets home. Adrian’s teacher Mrs. Dillard says, “Adrian is an outstanding student that always works hard and does his best!” Don’t let Adrian’s quiet nature fool you; he is always listening and paying attention. He is a kind student that is respectful to others. This is why Adrian is a Super Star at CES! Dianna Camacho is in Ms. Davidson's Second Grade class. Her favorite movie is Frozen because she loves the graphics, and the story is really neat. Her role model is her Dad, because he teaches her how to do things like fish, ride a bike and a four wheeler. He is always nice to her and takes the time to play with her. Dianna would love to grow up to be a famous Doctor so when her parents grow old, she can take care of them. She loves to go hunting for deer and pigs with her dad. Mrs. Davidson, Dianna’s teacher, describes her like this, “Always kind to her classmates, I love how Dianna sets the example for others to follow.” Dianna is polite to everyone, adult and child alike and she never has to be reminded to do her best because she is always doing it. These are just a few of the reasons why Dianna is a Super Star at CES! Center Intermediate: Abby Sneed and Collin Jones Abby Sneed is in Fourth Grade. Her favorite movie is Winn-Dixie and her favorite book is The Lost Dog. Abby chose her sister, Casey as her role model because she will spend time with her and play with her. Abby also says that Casey sings well. She hopes to grow up and become a famous country singer. Abby loves to play softball and baseball with her brothers and sisters. They have enough for a whole team...six total! She also likes to do crafts and make bracelets. Abby was chosen as Rider of the Week because she does her best and is helpful to other classmates. She is very kind and compassionate to her peers and teachers. Abby has an endearing smile and is a joy to be around. Collin Jones is in Fifth Grade. He says that he never gets tired of watching The Three Stooges. His role model is Adrian Beltre, 3rd Baseman for the Texas Rangers. Collin hopes to become famous from playing baseball. He really wants to continue to play baseball in high school, college, and eventually professionally. For fun, he loves to play baseball, riding four wheelers, fishing, and getting together with friends. Collin was chosen as Rider of the Week because he has a wonderful attitude and puts forth great effort. He is helpful and kind to his fellow classmates. Collin has a contagious grin that makes you smile and have a better day. Center Middle School: Taylor Nichols and Oscar Vasquez Taylor Nichols and Oscar Vasquez have been chosen as CMS Riders of the Week. Taylor is a member of the band and made All-Region. She plays second base for a select softball team, Louisiana Freedom. She also plays volleyball, basketball, and runs track. She is in JCC and attends Jackson Baptist Church. Her mother is her role model because she has a positive outlook on life, always listens, and is there through thick and thin. Taylor hopes to attend SFA and play softball and/or basketball. Her career goal is to become a sports trainer or coach. Eighth grade has been a lot of fun for Taylor and her friends, Chasity and Elizabeth, have made it even better. Taylor was nominated by her ELA teacher, Lacey Pierce, who says Taylor is an amazing young student! She always keeps a positive attitude and strives to put forth her very best effort. Her determination and 100% at everything she does is why she was nominated for this recognition. Oscar Vasquez enjoys listening to music and drawing. His favorite band is Skillet. He is a member of CMS band and would like to be famous one day for being a musician. After graduating from high school, he wants to go to Bard College. Oscar’s role model is his brother, Israel, who is always there for him. Oscar thinks of Israel as more of a dad than a brother. A career in the medical field is the ultimate goal for Oscar. He has been inspired to become a surgeon because his brother, Hugo, has had to have extensive highly skilled medical care. Oscar is a sweet, caring person. He was nominated by Career Tech teacher, Gladys Andrews, who says Oscar is a total joy to teach. Without being asked, he helps another student with limited English on a daily basis. He has a genuine concern for others. His smile and magnificent personality will surely be missed when he leaves eighth grade. Congratulations to these two exemplar students! Center High School: Haley Hockenberry and Austin Craig Haley Hockenberry and Austin Craig are this week’s CHS Riders of the Week. They are both Freshmen and are very active members of the campus. Haley says that her favorite movie is Remember the Titans. Her Grandfather is her role model because he is always willing to help those in need. Haley really hopes to attain fame by helping find a cure for cancer because she has had many family members diagnosed with it and have passed. She knows the pain and suffering it causes and hopes to bring it to an end. She plans to attend a top ranked university that emphasizes math and science. She is a member of Beta Club, JCC, UIL Number Sense and Mathematics teams, Band, 1st Lieutenant for Chaparrals, and is involved in competitive dance and clogging teams. Austin says his favorite movie is Glory Road. Stephen Curry is his role model because everyone told him he was too small and too weak to play professional basketball, but now Curry is the best shooter in the NBA. Austin wants to become famous for creating a new sport. After high school, he plans to attend Baylor University. He is a member of the Beta Club, and plays Basketball, Football, and Golf for the Riders. He is also involved with Wired Student Ministries. CHS Teacher Ms. Natalie Corbell says that both Haley and Austin are very involved in school and extra-curricular activities, yet never fail to make up class work and maintain their grades. They both put academics first before their other events. They are also extremely respectful to their teachers and classmates and have great leadership skills. They excel in whatever task they perform. Haley and Austin are great kids to have at CHS!
